Looks like the Steinbach flasher has been caught.  A 25 year old man has been arrested after allegations he was flashing kids in a shopping mall.  RCMP say the alleged incident happened on the weekend in a mall in Steinbach.  They say they’re now investigating whether there could be links to several other, similar incidents in recent months.

 

A man boating with his family says he found a body floating in the water near the Forks yesterday.  Apparently, John Slow-buh-zahn was taking a ride with his family when he found the body near some driftwood at the Forks.  John called police right away, and members of the police dive team were sent to the scene to dislodge the body.  So far, no word on who the person is, or, how they died.

 

The family of a 24 year old man gunned down while standing in a bus shelter in downtown Winnipeg, say they can’t believe it.  Police say the man was shot yesterday afternoon as he stood inside the glass shelter.  He was rushed to hospital but later died.  Cops say they do have a suspect in custody….but no word yet on what this guy’s motive was.

 

It appears that BP’s cost of dealing with the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is rising at a rate of 500 million dollars a week.  The company announced this morning that it has, so far, spent more than 3 billion trying to shut off the gushing well and in damage claims.  The well at the bottom of the Gulf blew out of control almost 11 weeks ago now.

 

Well if you’re one of those who liked a cherry flavored cigar, you’re now outta luck.  This is the day federal law forces all Canadian stores to pull flavored cigarettes and cigars from their shelves.  The goal is to try and discourage younger Canadians from smoking. 

 

The Queen will go high-tech on this, the last full day of her 9 day visit to Canada.  This morning, she flies from Toronto to Waterloo, for a tour of Research in Motion, the maker of the Blackberry.  Then, it’s back to Toronto for a tour of the country’s biggest film and t.v. production complex.  Tonight, the Queen will be the guest of honor at a dinner hosted by Prime Minister Harper.  Tomorrow, she flies off to New York.

 

Toyota says 4 thousand cars in this country are included in a recall announced last week of 270 thousand vehicles around the world.  Affected by the recalls are 7 different Lexus models.  Apparently, valve springs need to get fixed as the engines could stall while the vehicles are moving.

 

And Joey, “Jaws” Chestnut won his 4th consecutive hot dog eating contest yesterday.  As part of the July 4th holiday, Nathan’s hot dogs at New York’s Coney Island, puts on the contest each year.  But Chestnut’s thunder was stolen when former champ Takeru Kobayashi, rushed the stage.  He was immediately arrested.  No word on what got the former champ so riled up.
