The province will try to clean the mess up.  New regulations, along with increased enforcement, will be announced today for septic fields.  In West St. Paul, near the Red River, inspectors found 35 per cent of septic systems on 167 properties were non compliant. 


3 people suffered minor injuries after a house party in the city was crashed early yesterday.  Partygoers told police the trouble started when uninvited guests got a little rowdy and were asked to leave.  A 19 year old man was stabbed, another 19 year old woman was assaulted and a 16 year old suffered injuries to her leg.  All 3 will be okay………


A Mexican news website is reporting today that 2 Canadian men have been killed in the resort city of Puerto Vallarta this weekend.  Reports say the 2 were shot to death at close range yesterday morning.  It happened at a condominium, but, there are few other details available.


Officials in the Philippines say the death toll from massive flooding that hit the country this weekend is now well over 100…..with many more people missing.  The army, police and volunteers continue their search and rescue effort as the waters left by a tropical storm recede. 


France’s foreign minister says the arrest of film maker Roman Polanski this weekend was a bit sinister.  Polanski was busted on a 31 year old U.S. warrant as he arrived in Switzerland for the Zurich film festival.  He had fled the U.S. to France in 1978, after pleading guilty to having sex with a 13 year old girl.


Canadians will be listening to hear what Stephen Harper has to say today.  The prime minister is set to deliver an economic update this afternoon.  Analysts says they expect the P.M. will say that while the economy appears to be recovering, there are still some uncertainties and risks.


Movie fans are lining up for a 2nd helping of “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.”  The animated tale took in more than 24 million U.S. to remain number one at the box office for the 2nd week in a row.  Bruce Willis’ action thriller, “Surrogates,” debuted this weekend at number 2….and, opening in 3rd place was “Fame,” a new take on the 80’s music and dance hit about students at a school for performing arts.
