A Winnipeg man who went to Texas for cancer treatment, after being told his case was terminal, is now suing his doctor and the regional health authority.  53 year old Wesley Coyle says he went down to Houston for alternative therapy, something he says his doctor said was his only hope.  But apparently, doctors in Houston told him the only treatment he needed was what doctors in Winnipeg should have given him.  Coyle by the way is now in remission.

  

This is the day that Canadians will get their first look at the design for the torch that’ll open the 2010 winter games in Vancouver.  The designer says it was a real challenge because it’ll have to stay lit in some of the world’s most challenging weather conditions.  The torch begins its cross country trip in Victoria in October, and will wind up in Vancouver for the opening of the games, exactly a year from today.

  

In the first ever crash of its kind, 2 big communications satellites collided 800 kilometers over Siberia.  One was American, and the other was Russian.  NASA says Tuesday’s crash created a huge debris cloud that does pose a slight risk to the international space station.

  

Could be another rough ride on the markets today.  Big losses were piled up by 2 of Asia’s major stock markets overnight.  Analysts say investors doubt the costly American bail out plan, will do anything to help the U.S. economy.

  

Time to get the pools going again.  Nobody had the winning ticket for last night’s lotto 6-49 draw, worth 16 million.  So that means the jackpot for this weekend’s draw should be around 25 million.

  

A Desperate Housewife is moving out of Wisteria Lane.  ABC confirms, Nicollette Sheridan is leaving, although the network is not saying when.  From day one in 2004, Sheridan has played Edie Britt, Wisteria Lane’s resident vamp.
