Take A Hike With Your Children

Tuesday, May 29th, 2012

Remember when you were a kid and your dad used the term, “Take a Hike!” Well now you can take his words literally!

Take a Hike with Your Children” by Lynda Pianosi is an easy to read book, intended to get families active, outside and interested in nature. And we certainly have one of the most beautiful playgrounds in our back yard, The Canadian Rockies! There are more than 40 hikes within a two-hour drive from Calgary. This is the perfect book for young families wanting to get out and appreciate what Mother Nature has given us!

In this easy to read guide, there’s picture icons that let you know if the trail you and your young family is about to embark on is stroller friendly, if there are bathrooms, fire pits, shelters and more. Getting ready for your outdoor adventure was never this easy! Now you know what you and your family are in for. No more guessing if the hike is suitable for your family! I love it! It also gives you an outline for all walking abilities, to competent walkers through to advanced walkers. Parents are the best judge of their children’s walking abilities and you can use these guidelines to help you know where to go!

In this guide ,”Take A Hike with Your Children“, Lynda had done extensive research on Banff Hikes, Canmore Hikes, Kananaskis Hikes and Lake Louise Hikes. Plus there is additional information on other local adventure hikes for your family. Plus the whole book has photos, so you can actually see what you and your family are getting into!

Thank you Lynda Pianosi for the tremendous amount of time and energy you put into this outstanding book. Full of useful information and resources. Now, no more excuses for not getting out with the kids! You have one of the most amazing opportunities only minutes away!

Happy Hiking!!

Roomates From Hell

Wouldn’t it be nice to split the bills?

Looking for someone to live with during this recession is a way to save some cash, but living with another person can be difficult.

There’s new book you can check out this summer called “I Lick My Cheese: And Other Notes From Roommate Front-lines” explores every type of mishap including missing food, live-in thieves, mentally ill roommates, drug use and loud love making. (You can get it online from Amazon click here)
I could contribute to that book – I had a roommate (use roommate as your bonus code) who dyed my white cat purple and another one who racked up a $700 phone bill – in my name – and then she bailed – so I was left with the bill – oh… and the roommate who’s cat had kittens on my bed… while I was sleeping in it… ew!

“How To Improve Your Marriage Without Talking About It” by Patricia Love and Steve Stosny.

First of all, I’m totally surprised that I read this book in less than 2 weeks. I’m not that fast of a reader… and this one kept my attention. I didn’t expect to read a self help book, but boy am I glad I did!

I think this book is for everyone – whether you’re in a marriage or not. It’s about reconnecting. Reconnecting with your partner and reconnecting with yourself. You’ll find things out about yourself that you may be hiding. It’s time to heal. If we heal what happened to us in the past, we can move forward with the present. The biggest lesson for me in this book was that you can’t blame your partner for things that happened to you before they came around. Example: If you had a past relationship where someone hurt you, you can’t EXPECT that your current partner will hurt you. It’s like we manifest our own future by what we expect. (Use expect as your bonus code)

This book is about getting you back to where you were when you first met your partner. When you first started dating you had TIME for each other. You were connected. As time goes on, we get disconnected. You CAN bring it back.

I can honestly say I’ve seen a HUGE difference in the connection I have with my husband. Not only that, but a difference in the connection I have with my colleagues and friends. Don’t miss out on this book – and bring back the person you are and the values you hold dear!

Stay tuned for my next book selection. I’ll have it in a couple of weeks!
