So Mother’s Day has come and gone for another year. Now is the time to ask your mom if she got what she wished for. www.wishlist.com did a survey called… “What Do Moms Really Want?”

It found that mother’s would be fairly content with a family gathering, dinner out, jewelry, and some EXTRA SLEEP! (Oh that would be nice wouldn’t it!!) 4% of the mom’s asked said they would love a car, money or a weekend away.

Someone tell my mother-in-law to stop telling me I look “tired”. When she tells me that… she’s saying I look like CRAP!! And I don’t need to know… I know how I look and how I feel. And most of the time I feel pretty good!!! I’m not about to spend thousands of dollars getting a face lift or botox! So I need a little sleep – but don’t TELL me… I already know! (Okay I feel better ranting… thanks for listening!)

Considering I wasn’t really convinced I was going to get anything for Mother’s Day… as life is busy. I was pleasantly surprised by a drawing from my son (with the help of daddy). And then we spent the morning at the Calgary Zoo. (use zoo as your bonus code)

It was the fastest walk around the zoo I’ve ever had. My son ran as fast as he could with his finger pointed saying “what’s that”. He zoomed past everything. He took the odd moment to look at the animals. The animal that won the longest look was the Goose under the gazebo sitting on her eggs.

But we spent most of our time at the zoo playground. It’s set up in three sections, Ages 6 -12, 3-6, and Under 3. Being that my son is 21 months old… he should have played on the under 3. But, he wanted nothing to do with it… and wanted to play in the 6-12.

I hope all the mother’s in the world were treated to the love they deserve on Mother’s Day!

Shelter from the Storm is Canada’s largest campaign dedicated to ending violence against women. More than half of the women listening to this have experienced physical abuse at least once in their lives. Every year in Canada, up to 360,000 children are exposed to domestic violence.
Every year, over 100,000 women and children seek refuge in shelters across Canada.

Alberta leads the country in domestic assault, homicide-suicide, stalking and is third in domestic homicide. About one third of all the homicides in the province are domestic violence related. An average of 8 women per year were murdered by their spouse in Alberta. Calgary Police Service saw domestic calls for service increase eight per cent, from 12,517 in 2007 to 13,496 in 2008. Last year nearly 12,000 women and children stayed in shelters.

A successful weekend! I attended Paws for A Cause on Sunday. Together we raised just over $4100. The money will help with Canine Cancer. We’ll do it again next year, and the following year… as long as it takes to make the lives of our beloved pets comfortable!
