Easter Egg Hunt
Monday, April 6th, 2009
This is the first time I’ve ever been there, in my 14 years living in Calgary. I’ve talked about them before with past radio stations. But now that I have a 20 month old… I felt like I didn’t have any excuses not to visit.
I’m so glad we did… and whished we had done this sooner. What a GREAT place. We signed up for the Easter Egg Hunt. (Use Easter as your bonus code) You have to sign up online to get in as it sells out fast. You can check to see if they have any room left at www.butterfieldacres.com.
My son loved it. He collected eggs (okay – they were painted rocks… same thing). Then he got to plant some seeds in a pot to take home… then it was off to visit the animals. His favorite part was running after the lambs! After the lambs were safe in their barn, my son thought it would be a good idea to taste their milk. They have a box with nipples on the end so they can feed… and my son helped himself… We quickly pulled him off with everyone laughing at him. He thought it was pretty funny too!
Thank you Butterfield Acres for the wonderful day with my family! We’ll be back for sure!!

ONE NIGHT – ONE LIFE!
The late Jazz legend’s words sum up what motivates the best musicians to challenge how we
see the world, how we hear the world and push us to read between the lines. And perhaps, in all
of that, some good will come…
On the evening of April 4 you’ll have an exclusive opportunity to spend an intimate night with
some of Calgary’s best Jazz musicians as they take you on a musical journey. As these elite
artists weave and spin an interpretive tale for their friends at Midpark Christian Assembly, you will have made a difference in someone’s future. Midpark believes it’s critical to be there for those who are struggling most in these dark economic times. The money raised from this inspirational evening will go towards ‘HomeSTART’ and ‘Inn From The Cold’ foundations.
HomeSTART seeks to help homeless families who are hard working but do not have the finances
and means to afford housing. Since its inception, several other initiatives to raise funds have
been created such as the Annual Run ‘Miles for Moms’. HomeSTART is now in the
developmental stages of expanding its program to other non-profit organizations in the city and
beyond.
Inn From The Cold works with a coalition of churches from across the city who have mobilized their volunteers to convert their buildings into shelters for families who are in distress and in need of shelter. IFTC has recently embarked on a building program to be able to help further.

Relax – There’s Help To Calm Your Dental Fears (Dental is your bonus code)
Does the thought of visiting the dentist cause you to break out in a cold sweat? Well you’re not alone, experts say; fear is a major stumbling block in getting to the dentist for millions of people.
For some the fear is so great that it prevents them and their families from maintaining good dental health. This often leads to a ‘catch 22 situation’, the longer you postpone your dental check up due to fear, the worse your fear can become about suspected dental problems.
To help you cope with your fear it is important to choose a family dentist that you feel comfortable sharing your anxiety with. There are numerous successful relaxation techniques that dentists use to help alleviate apprehension. Getting your concerns out in the open will let your dentist adapt the treatment to your needs and will help create a
doctor-patient relationship founded on mutual trust and respect.
It’s important to deal with this anxiety before you inadvertently pass your apprehension to your children. If your child senses that you are nervous, he or she may feel nervous about the dentist too. This fear is not something that you want to pass on to your children.
There are many ways to find a dentist that’s right for you; ask your family and friends or people you trust such as your doctor or pharmacist if they can recommend a family dentist.
After completing your research, call the dentist for an appointment. At your first visit you should be able to learn a lot about whether the dentist is right for you and your family.
Keep in mind the following questions:
• What is the general appearance of the office, the dentist, and the staff? Is
everything neat, clean, and orderly?
• How available is the dentist? Is the appointment schedule convenient for
you? Is the office easy to get to from your home or place of business?
• Does the dentist seem genuinely interested in your health?
• What arrangements does the dentist have for handling emergencies that occur
outside of office hours?
• Does the dentist enjoy treating children?
It’s also important to note if the practice is a high-volume operation in which the dentist rushes from patient to patient. These dentists may be unwilling or unable to spend extra time with you if you need it – adding to your apprehension.
As part of your research ask the dentist about fees. They should be willing to discuss fees and/or financial arrangements in advance of treatment. It’s important to know if payment is requested at the visit or will the dentist file your insurance company claim and bill you for the balance?
According to the Canadian Dental Association, your oral health is an important part of your overall health. Research shows there may be a link between oral disease and other health problems such as diabetes, heart disease and stroke as well as pre-term and low-birth-weight babies.
Only your dentist has the skills, training and expertise to identify and address all your oral health care needs. So relax help is only a phone call away.
