There’s a transition period in Calgary. It goes from stunning fall colors to downright ugly. After the leaves fall off the trees, we just wait for the first snowfall. (Well… most years – it is Calgary after all… and it could snow in June…) Anyway, we go from beautiful to ugly to mystical.
Remember when you were a kid and you couldn’t wait for the first snowfall. I loved looking outside to see the trees covered in a blanket of snow (Use snow as your bonus code). I always thought the first snowfall was so pretty. The ice forming on the windows was magical. I couldn’t wait to be the first footsteps in our yard. AND I hated it when building a snowman wrecked the smoothness of our yard. Loved the snowman, but it always left the yard messy.
I need to reflect back on those childhood memories, because now, that I’m an adult, the first snowfall makes me GRUMPY!! Isn’t if funny how we forget what it was like to see the world through the eyes of a child. Now when it snows I get my back up. I tense up in my shoulders, and I panic at the idea of driving on the Deerfoot with the snow icing it up! I usually leave a good distance between me and the vehicle I’m following. When all of a sudden, some bonehead comes speeding along only to zip in and out of the gaps in traffic! Today wasn’t that bad with the snow, but it will get worse as the season brings more snow. If we could only have a cover over Deerfoot to keep it dry all year long! Sure it’ll cost Billions and Billions of dollars… But if it eases the tension in my neck and releases my white knuckles… I’m in!!!
Note: Platinum VIP’s you have until midnight Nov.9th to enter your bonus code for 250 points.
I here you about the snow fall. I commute to the south edge of the city from Black Diamond!…My suggestion would be that all the highways in Alberta be heated, so that No snow can stick to the pavement.. impossible I know, but it nice to dream.
