Yesterday I received the call that my cell phone was ready for pick up after being in for a repair. I was so excited… as I haven’t had my phone for 2 weeks. I was feeling so lost without my contacts.
When I picked it up I looked it over and realized my contacts weren’t in the phone. I said, “Oh, hey, you forgot to put my contacts back on my phone.” The guy looked at me and said, “No, they’re gone.” Pause. Pause some more. After holding my head in my hands, I looked up at the guy…. Paused again, speechless. I gasped. I said, “What do you mean they’re gone?” He said, “when you bring your phone in they upgrade the program and it deletes anything you had on there.” Very calmly I said, “But my life is on there.”
I had a sudden feeling of being disconnected. For a moment I felt lonely. (Use “lonely” as your bonus code.) EVERYONE I know is on there. I don’t memorize numbers, do you? No, of course you don’t. I’m still in a state of shock. I guess it’s lucky that the majority of the numbers are retrievable. They’re also mostly personal and not clients. But, holy crap! Here’s a reminder to EVERYONE… don’t always trust technology. Back up your numbers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
