On Friday June 12th, Bob Magee will begin a new chapter in his career. He will begin working full time on his personal Company, from his beloved cottage up North. Bob has been with CHFI for almost 10 years and will continue to work for our company on a freelance basis as he builds his business. Congratulations Bob on this new journey.
We will miss you!
Scroll down to post your comments and well wishes for Bob Magee here.
Bob, I have listened to you every day (except for vacation time) for your almost 10 years at CHFI beginning with Erin on the morning show. I will mostly certainly miss your company while preparing dinner every weekday evening. Good luck in your new venture.
- Barbara MittonBOB!!!
I Love your show on CHFI, you complete the team! I will miss you sooooo much. I’ve listened to you since you first started “filling in” for Don Daynard on the morning show and then actually picking up from him when he retired. I was very happy when you didn’t leave the station during the “shake-up” stage – (haha) and instead found your niche with the “get me home from work” show. It will be lonely on my way home from work on the 15th!
That said – I wish you the VERY BEST of EVERYTHING in your new (well, maybe not so new – but new to me) endeavours. I know you will do well because your outlook is always forward.
Maybe you’ll come back just to do the “coats for kids” weekend?
Miss you already!

Twitter asks us to sum things up in 140 characters. Today I can sum up Bob Magee (and his character) in one single WORD: “Class”. This week Bob wraps up ten years with us at CHFI. In our four years as co-hosts on the CHFI Morning Show (which officially began on his birthday, Dec. 13, 1999), I’ve gotten to know some of the many facets of this warm and wonderful man. In addition to being a radio veteran, Bob has many talents: he’s a documentary maker, he’s written film manuscripts, he’s an avid musician, a helluva ball player and a lover of good wines, great women and soft rock songs! (okay, I may be exaggerating – but only a bit!)
Now, to the part about class. When I took my leave of CHFI six years ago, Bob offered support and love not just to me, but to CHFI listeners. He handled the whole situation with grace and patience and truly helped the station, its listeners and me through a time of transition. I will always be grateful for his kindness and compassion, but most of all for his friendship.
Please join me in wishing Bob smooth waters, vast and exciting horizons and many quiet nights at his heart home in Muskoka. To Bob – thank you for being a friend. Thank you for being there with me for so many mornings, and with your listeners for so many afternoons. Please know that we will always be there for you, too.
I’m so lucky to have shared even one chapter in your amazing life. Good luck in the next one, Bob.
Love,
- ErinErin
I have had the pleasure of seeing Bob either before I start my show (when he was doing Mornings) or after my show ( while he’s been doing afternoons) every weekday for almost 10 years. He is an amazing broadcasting and equally an awesome man.
I am so very happy for him to be leaving to start his new journey, but I know I will miss seeing his cute smile every day. He is a classy man with a heart that is something to behold.
I’ll miss you at work Bob, but you can’t get rid of me THAT easily, I’ll still make sure we do dinners and hit the slopes together. I mean who else can get away with calling you “Nancy Boy”!
Love you Brother!!!
- MichelleMichelle Butterly
Congratulations Bob. You will be missed very much but you are going on to bigger and better things. All the best to you .
- Josie StinaBob,
I listen to CHFI everyday. I was sorry to hear that you’re leaving the afternoon show. I’ll especially miss your stories. One in particular was about your daughters lost cat. It was priceless.
Congratulations in your new business and enjoy your new lifestyle.
Karen Taylor-Hudson
- Karen Taylor-HudsonBob it feels like a lifetime ago and just like it was yesterday, that I was privileged to share the studio with you and Erin on the morning show, as your news anchor. And the times when Erin was on vacation and I got to warm her chair were truly precious. We laughed so hard and you were (and are) such a generous co-host and decent human being. I loved those days and they were some of the highlights of my career.
Thank you for the laughter, for the advice (on voice work and other stuff) and for allowing me to be a part of the ride.
You’re going to be “off the clock” but not out of our minds and hearts. Rock on!
- Lisa BrandtLisa

I had the pleasure of meeting him in ST.Lucia, what a great guy. I also have been listening to him since he started and my husband remebers him in the other stations he worked for. The coat drive will be different!!!! All the best in your new changes.
- pat pecchiaThe Pecchia’s
I, like the others, have been listening to Bob since he came to CHFI and started to fill in on the morning show. We were glad when there was the “change” those many years ago that Bob was still there to keep us listening and laughing.
These past 10 years have flown by. Thanks for your humor, good times and taking the time to help those in need. You’re truly an inspiration!
My family and I want to wish you the best in your new endeavour and we look forward to hearing about you. You will be missed!
- Charlotte PorterBob,
- Marg DowlingI’m soooo sorry to hear you are leaving but wish you all the best with your new stage of life. I have listened to you faithfully since before your ‘Bob/Sam n Robbie’ team on another station & enjoyed you as much then as I do today.
It’s hard to believe you have been with CHFI 10 years already….where does the time go??? You surly helped make the CHFI team complete and will miss your afternoon show very much.
You are one heck of a DJ and hope all your future endeavors are as successful as your previous have been.
Good Luck and ENJOY!
Miss you already

All the best to you Bobby Magee!
Never have I loved a guy so much that I had so little in common with. (Bad grammar, I’m sure)
Me:Beer – You:Wine.
Me:Wings – You:Sushi.
Me:Hockey – You:Baseball.
Me:Van Halen – You:Beatles.
But working beside you everyday for 4 years made me want to be more like you.
You made me want to be a better man.
And for a while, I think I was…of course, now I work with Cooper…
I think I may have regressed a little, eh?
Thanks for the 10-plus years of friendship and guidance.
You will always be very high up on my All Time Great Guys list.

You will certainly be missed. I wish you all the best in your new endeavours, and how wonderful that you can do it in such a beautiful place.
Marilyn Thomas
- Marilyn ThomasI can’t believe it Bob. I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to you since your arrival at CHFI. I LOVED your stories; the one that sticks in my mind is your daughter’s missing cat, HA! You are a WONDERFUL announcer Bob and I will miss you in the afternoons.

- Wendy & Wayne LawrenceWhat Erin said….!
Will miss ya , Good Luck!
Carolyn
- CarolynWe as well have been listening to you since you first came to CHFI. Actually, I remember when they took a poll and asked who should fill the vacant seat and I made sure I cast your name on the ballot.
- GayleThe times that we have met you we have always walked away with a smile because you are certainly a class act and a very generous person. Not many people would camp out in the cold for anybody, but you always had a smile on your face and always kind words were spoken by you.
Dinner time will not be the same without you sharing our table.
Good luck Bob!!
Bob, we are all going to miss you a lot. Big voice, big heart, what else can I say. I know your venture will go well. Enjoy the new challenge, and I hope we hear you on air now and again.
- Ben BlessOh my goodness, how wonderful for you Bob, how unfortunate for those of us who have been listening to you for many years. I started listening in your AM days and then enjoyed you with Erin in the morning. In fact, you kept me with CHFI; albeit only for the drive home a few years back.
I had the pleasure of meeting you in St. Lucia last year and I have to agree with Pat Pecchia, the Clothes Drive just is not going to be the same without you.
Bob, I wish you great success in your future endeavours and enjoy your time at the cottage, you deserve it.
For the past two years I have enjoyed my retirement sitting on my front porch in Muskoka listening to your show via internet. Starting Monday, it just won’t be the same.
You will be missed. All the best to a very classy guy and an all around great person.

Bob, I’m going to miss you so much. I loved listening to you every day. You always put a smile on my face and I thoroughly enjoyed your company via my radio. I had the pleasure to meet you many years ago at a charity baseball game for the North York Harvest Food Bank. You were everything I thought you’d be: gracious, witty and charming. I wish you all the best in your future endeavours. You’ll be greatly missed.
- Lisa- Lisa
Hi Bob
Best of luck with your next adventure in your life. My husband Mike had the pleasure of meeting you when picking up his $1000.00 cheque. We will both miss your show in the afternoons.Take care from your long time listner. xoxo
- Dawn AkittBob, wishing you great success in everything you do. As listeners, we are all blessed for having had you touch our lives with your charm and wit each evening on the way home. You leave big shoes to fill and an empty place in the hearts of your audience!
- MicheleBob, just wanted to drop a line to let you know this is one listener that will miss your smooth voice on the drive home! I met you in person when you did the coats for kids at Vaughan Mills – eventhough it was a cold night when I dropped off some coats the warmth from your heart enveloped us. Good Luck on your next stage in life! You deserve it. Miss you already….
- PatriciaDear Bob
You will be truly missed by all listeners including me. Years ago when you with Erin in the early a.m.’s I won a trip on the B’Day game. My B’Day is the same day as your late mother’s so I knew soon as you mentioned her that was the date. You have brought much joy into many offices and households. All the Best in your next career.
Best Wishes and Congratulations
Sharon
- Sharon SmithBob – You are an amazing person. I’m going to miss your quick wit. I was also one that voted to have you do the morning show – when things “changed”. You got the afternoon show and did an AMAZING job. Will miss you dearly. All the best.
I’ve listened to you for many many years, both at CHFI and the other station. You truly are a wonderful person.
Congratulations on your new venture.

No more Bob Magee.. wow. We resist change as a matter of course even when it is good for us. As listeners we are creatures of habit .. comfortable in the routines and the personalities that we consider as friends. That fateful morning when it was just Bob with no Erin illustrated the class act that Bob is. When we tuned in that Monday morning and learned the news, we could hear the emotion in Bob’s voice as he struggled with change and he did it well. When the universe was restored to its rightful place with Erin and Mike in the Morning, it was the best addition to a perfect line up. Erin and Mike, Michelle and then Bob. My day at the computer was set and I could work and be entertained at the same time with people I have come to know as friends through the airwaves.
This new change will take some adjustment but I wish Bob well on his new endeavour and just know that he will approach this with the same class and energy that he has shared with us for the last 10 years. Who will do the coat promotion, who will give us the silly one liners?
Bon Voyage Bob..

Hi Bob:
I too have been listening to you when you were on in the mornings with Erin – I was so glad that you landed on your feet when you reappeared on the afternoon show – I shall miss your dulcet tones and your banter (again, your daughter’s cat). You are truly a special guy, a class act and you will be missed very much.
Enjoy your time in Muskoka (lucky duck!)

Hi Bob:
I have listened to you since you were on in the mornings with Erin. I’m so glad you landed on your feet by reappearing on the afternoon show. It must have been hard for you to announce the trips with Erin and Mike when you were the one who used to go.
I love to hear your dulcet tones and your banter (again, your daughter’s cat).
Take care, Bob, and enjoy your next venture in Muskoka no less! Lucky duck!
I will miss you!

- shirleyWhat a shock!.My drive home won’t be the same. I too remember you from other days. Love your show and will miss you. Good luck in your new venture.
Was so sadddened to hear the news. From the early mornings with Erin to those long drive homes I have come to know you and you will be so missed. I remember a horrendous snow storm when it took me 4 hours to get home and it was you that kept me sane. I wish you only good things in your new adventure.

Bob:
- JackieYou never failed to deliver your time on radio, with your great charity with your coat drives and how you managed not to wear one on a cold day! You’re truly amazing! I have always listened to you on my drive home every day and will certainly miss your funny jokes etc. It will be sad day for me when you won’t be there but I wish you all the very best in your new adventures Bob!
Bob Magee = Gentleman. I will miss your easy-listening voice in the afternoons, and have already wondered what will happen to ‘Give a Kid a Coat’ this year. You and Erin made a great team, and I have to admit, as much as I love Mike, I still occasionally slip and say ‘Bob ‘n’ Erin’ when talking to friends about CHFI’s morning pair! All the very best in this next stage of your life! Maybe you’ll visit the station now and then … ?
- Pat NowellPat Nowell
You will be missed. All the best in your new adventure.
- Janice GrahamWhat are we going to do without all the quips and picturing your smiling face in the afternoon? I agree with other listeners your story about the cat was one we will never forget.
- AnneGood luck on your new life path.
I know that you will do well.
Hopefully we will hear from you from time to time.
Take care and keep smiling.
Anne
Bob,
Nothing makes me sadder right now than you leaving the air waves. Your sultry voice, sense of humour and good nature leaves our lives with such emptiness. I believe I have been listening to you ow for the length of your career on CHFI. How will I get home??
Nobody deserves this more than you. CONGRATULATIIONS!!!
Best wishes on all of your future endeavours.
I will miss you….alot!
Francesca
- FrancescaHi Bob, all the best. What will CHFI 98.1 do now at Christmas collecting coats, staying out for the weekend in cold weather, in different forms of shelter?

- Kimberley YoungI wish you every happiness wherever you go and whatever you do.
You will be missed! You truly are a “Great Guy”
Take care,
New chapters are wonderful..full of excitement, inspiration and a little “good” fear of what will be.
Wishing you much success as you move forward and embrace the new challenges you’ve set yourself! Life is about going forward with your rearview mirror adjusted to remind you of where you’ve been.
- SherryDear Bob:
As a long time CHFI listener, I thought nobody could replace Don Daynard but you did an excellent job with Erin. I also enjoyed you doing the afternoon show too. I have enjoyed listening to you on the radio and will miss your jokes.
Good luck in your new venture.
Mindi
- Mindi Langer VajdaYou will be sorely missed. Your voice has made my afternoon (or morning) for many years. Your slightly off-center sense of humor has often caused me to snort while drinking my water.
The obvious camraderie between you and your co-workers makes CHFI a joy to listen to. I wish you joy and success in your future!

I love your afternoon show on CHFI, you complete the team! I will miss you sooooo much. I’ve listened to you since you first started “filling in” for Don Daynard on the morning show and then actually picking up from him when he retired. Bob, I like many other listeners, will miss your sense of humour, and your little anecdotes as I prepare my dinner. I always enjoy our time together, and I will miss you when you head off to “northern pastures”. Who will take your place with the successful “Give a Kid a Coat”? You will be sorely missed!!

Hi Bob,
I am one of the listeners who left CHFI when Erin “left”. I had been listening for many years and also thought that no one could replace Don. You did it beautifully with your easy manner and wonderful giving nature. I returned when Erin did and started listening to you in the afternoons. You make my drive home so much easier.
Thank-you and all the best in your new endeavour.

Hi Bob, you are going to be really missed, I love your voice and listen to you every day. I talked to you and Erin on the Morning show a few years ago, when you were asking about “School Reunions” and that same night I was flying out to Scotland for just that. Bob no matter what you are doing you will always be number 1 on the airwaves, I am going to miss your voice and jokes. Take care mu friend and enjoy whatever you are doing . Good Luck Bob. I’ll miss you when you’re gone. You personally helped me out on the phone one time. I hope everything goes well for you in your future endeavours.
- Sheila JamesBob; I was blown away when I read on Erin’s website that you were leaving on Friday. Like many CHFI listeners I am loyal to the station and hearing your voice in the afternoons is so comforting. I can’t describe how it will feel to not hear you there every afternoon. I LOVED it when you were doing the morning show with Erin and felt so glad that you found your place with the drive-home show. I guess we just come to take for granted that things will remain the same. I’m sure leaving CHFI has come with some regrets (I’m hoping) and please know that many of us were listening and really enjoying your stories and just the sound of your voice day after day. Good luck with your future endevours. We look forward to hearing how you are doing. A very loyal fan – Elma Stewart
- Elma StewartOn behalf of my mom & I, we wish Bob all the best in his future endeavors. Bob has been *such* a great addition to CHFI! We will miss you!!!!

You are one of my favorite ones at CHFI and I will certainly miss you. I was already saving coats for the “give a kid a coat” drive that you do every year. This way we had the pleasure of meeting you and see what a really nice person you are. We wish you good luck in your future and hope to hear your voice again every now and then. We’ll miss you!
- AdrianaAdriana, Mississauga
Thank you for the past 10 years plus. I remember you filling in for Don before his retirement and was so happy when you took over. You blended so well with Erin and the CHFI crew.
- Margo DoucetteAs Erin said you are class and what you do every fall when you camp out shows you have a heart of gold. Good luck in your future endeavours.

Bob all the best in your new venture, you will be missed.
- ShirleyDear Bob
I have been a fan for many years. I have to say that you truly seem to be a class act. Every afternoon while I prepare dinner for my family, I have listened to your wonderful program.
Good Luck!
- Rita AlbertRita Albert, Georgetown, Ont.
Bob, like everyone else I’ve listen to you for a long time, going back to when you and Erin did the morning show on CHFI. You helped get my day started then and for a long time now you’ve been a big part in ending my work day by making the drive up the DVP/404 a lot more saner.
All the best in your future endeavors. You will be missed my your listeners.
- David MathewsonHi Bob!Congratulations on your new venture, and for the great work you did in December for Coats for kids, a lot of needy families depend on you to collects coats for Christmas, we hope you will still find the time to do it again for C.H.F.IIt was very gracious of you to spend a full week-end in a tent in the cold without a coat(we hope you had a bottle of Scotch to warm the cuccles of your heart)We will miss your show in the afternoons,
- Anne HendersonHi Bob,
Like any good daughter, there are not many things that my father and I agree on— but that you will be missed on the airwaves is one of them. A career that transcends a generation–my father for your oldies and me for your mornings and afternoons!! I can’t think of a better legacy to leave of your talent.
You are more than just a voice on the radio. You are a voice:
-of compassion for those in need
-of bewilderment for every father who doesnt understand a teenage daughter
-of ‘daring’capacity for bad jokes(over and over and over)
-of a neighbour, no favour too small
-of ‘a GUY’,… OUR guy…equally at home in a roughouse boat on the lake as he is in a tux raising money
-of a friend who we’ll miss.
Cheers and good luck!!
- RitaHi Bob,
- VICTORIA FLEMINGMy husband Gordon and I first met you at Fairview Mall when you were staying in the URT to raise coats for kids donations. You were so very nice and spoke to us and showed us around your humble tent.
Then we met again last November during the St Lucia trip. You are a real gentleman.
We wish you all the best in what ever you decide to do in the future. I will certainly miss you on the radio during my drive home in the evening but I get a feeling that we’ll meet again.
Take care and God Bless you.
Victoria & Gordon
Congratulations and good luck in your new venture, I know you will ne a success. I have listened to you every day on my long drive home from work and always enjoyed your show. I don; know who will be able to fill your shoes expecially with the “coat Drive” and I hope they can find someone with the same sense of humour and class as you.
- Caroline, KeswickBob,
I’m shocked by the news that you will be leaving radio. I’ve listened to you for years, even before you joined CHFI, when you were at that other station. I’ve always enjoyed listening to you and your stories. I’m certainly going to miss hearing your voice. (I’ve always had a secret crush on you!) Thank you for the time you’ve given to your fans and I wish you only the best of luck in your new adventure.
- Wanda (Whitby)When we read Erin’s blog yesterday, it was with sadness and disbelief that you are leaving CHFI. We have been listening to you for many years in the morning and then in the afternoon.
Thanks for everything, Bob.
Cheers to a class act. We wish you well in your new endeavours.
Be safe, be well and enjoy all that comes your way. Don’t be a stranger. Keep in touch! Afternoons will not be the same.
Off CHFI, but NEVER out of our hearts!!
- Ken & Cathy GaleHi Bob:
I had the feeling something was goiong on these past few weeks. We hate to admit it, but change is inevitable — and as much as I’m going to miss your company on the ride home, I’m so delighted to hear that you’re going to continue building your own company, in an environment you love.
- ELIZABETH (LIZ) SPITZERI visited you at the Coat Event a couple of years ago and we talked about your first day at work with Erin — you were late because it was your birthday — it seemed to be, for me, a moment in time.
Clearly, you have always been the class act so many previous blogs have mentioned — you have been a delight to travel home with over the years. I wish you good health, good fortune, much love and success. And please know, that you have left an indelible mark on our one and only CHFI. Go from strength to strength — I’ll look forward to hearing good things about you in the future. And kudos to CHFI for not letting you “just disappear” at the last minute, and allowing your fan club to fete you.
LIZ
My afternoons will feel empty and unfulfilled without Bob, I’ve loved him from his first days partnered with Erin in the morning. Having a Muskoka summer home as well, I understand his desire to be there, and I wish him much success and enjoyment on this new endeavour – a great big muskoka wave to you Bob!!
- CathieDear Bob,
It was with much surprise/shock that I found out that you will be leaving CHFI! I am very thankful that I have had the honour and privilege to have met you and gotten to know you well over the years. I first heard you when you did the morning show with Erin. I liked the chemistry you had together and then, when you moved on to the afternoon show, I enjoyed having you keep me company and laughing as I made my slow commute back to Guelph from wherever I was. The chemistry you had with Laurie Turcotte was great, too! I enjoyed all the facts you would give us with the Feel Good at 5 song. Music and trivia at the same time – brilliant! I will never forget the day I first met you in Nov. 2005 at Erin Mills Town Centre at my first Give a Kid a Coat drive. It was an emotional day for me as it was my last day at my job which I had resigned from. I saw you and the fantastic CHFI promo team that day twice and you really cheered me up and encouraged me that day. Seeing your camping out for the whole weekend for needy kids really inspired me and warmed my heart and that is why I have tried to ‘follow’ you wherever you were each year.
Bob, you are an incredibly loving, giving, caring, funny, and overall awesome guy and I wish you nothing, but the BEST in your new venture. As I have been finding out during my own career transition this past year, change is hard at first, but it opens up new doors that you never could have imagined would be open to you! I know you will succeed at whatever you put your mind and heart to. The coat drives you did are fine examples! You will be greatly missed, but you will never be forgotten. You will always have a special place in my heart.
Until our paths cross again, I wish you good health, happiness, joy, laughter, and strength in all your future endeavours! Enjoy that beautiful scenery from your beloved cottage!
With love and gratitude,
Stephanie Tran xox
- Stephanie TranIt has been a great pleasure listening to you in the afternoon. When I worked, I used to walk home every day and made sure I had a radio to listen to you as you really made my walk a pleasure. You made me laugh and I love listening to you. You will be missed.
- LorraineHi Bob,
- Joy RennickWell my ride home just won’t be the same! I love your sense of humour and the way you and Lori Turcotte carry on has made me laugh out loud! I’ll miss listening to you. Best of luck with your future!
Take care,
Joy
Hi Bob,
You are going to be missed but I also wish you all the best in your new adventure!!!
- Cindy , BurlingtonI just want to THANK YOU for making my daily drive home less stressful! Your sense of humour and quick wit helped! I also loved the chemistry between you and Erin when you did the morning show together. A few years ago I had a chance to chat with you when dropping off coats for the Coats for Kids program in Mississauga as well as the Oldies Dances at the Sheraton. You are a very classy and special guy!!
CHEERS!!!!

Bob, we are so sorry to hear you are leaving CHFI but wish you all the best in your future endeavours. We have listened to you since you took over from Don Daynard (those were big shoes to fill) and now someone else will have an equally large challenge! You will truly be missed and we will always consider you “simply the best”.
- Ron & Mary MoseyRon & Mary Mosey
I vividly remember “Don’t touch my stuff” from the time you filled in for Don Daynard.
Since then I’ve enjoyed listening to you, Bob.
And every time I hear Me And Bobby McGee, somehow I think of you!
Good luck for your future.
Cheers,
- David C KingBob, I am also one of your long time listeners. You were with us as we made our way home to Wasaga Beach from Toronto every day. With you along, the trip was always more enjoyable. You will be really missed. Good luck in your new endevour.

Dear B
- joan garnettob: Thanks for all the great listening experiences you have given me. I remember my friend telling me she went to a mall to see a celebrity, you were hosting, but thought you were much better. I agree Good Luck Joan Garnett
Bob you will be truly missed. I eagerly await each afternoon to hear what zinger you will throw at Lauarie Turcotte and hear her laugh! I have listened to you for 10 years and have always enjoyed your show both in am and pm time slots. You are a clever, creative, compassionate, classy guy and cute too. I know you will do well as you pursue new opportunities. Muskoka’s gain is Toronto’s loss!
- DonnaKeep well.
Bob
I’ve read all of the messages/wishes to you and I can only concur with all of them ! I listened to you as well when you did the morning show with Erin.
You will be missed…
Best of luck in your future ventures !
- Kathy HansenDear Bob,
- Walter DrozdowskyThe news that you were leaving CHFI yesterday really took the wind out of our sail yesterday. Our family has truly enjoyed listening to you during the last ten years. My wife and I had the privilige and honour to meet you at the CHFI studio’s and in St. Lucia while you were on vacation last year. Each time you were very gracious and patient in answering all of our questions about life at CHFI. The highlight for me was playing pool volleyball with you and the other CHFI listeners. If you ever have the urge to get out of the cottage and play some beach volleyball in Muskoka don’t hesitate to contact me. Please accept our congratulations for ten fantastic years at CHFI and our best wishes for success in your new endeavours.
Walter & Roxana
Dear Bob,
We have enjoyed listening to you since you joined CHFI. We really enjoy your sense of humour and always have a smile when you joke with Laurie Turcotte. We wish you well in your new life. We will miss you.

All the best UP North, and Keep smiling, As all changes are for the good even if we don’t know it at the time…

Bob, I have been listening to you since you did the morning show with Erin. I will never forget when I was away for a few weeks and I came back and you and Erin were not on the air in the morning. I was upset and confused. I emailed CHFI and all I said was where are Bob and Erin? Their response was that they were making some changes. I was not happy and I switched to another station for two years.
- Lynn BondThank you for being there during my drive home. Good luck in your new adventure. You will be missed.

Bob: I couldn’t believe my eyes when I read in Erin’s journal that Friday is your last day at CHFI. What will we do without you? I always enjoy listening to your show on my drive home and the easy, funny banter between you and Laurie Turcotte. Your show is a “stress release” from a busy day. CHFI is like a Family and now we’re losing a beloved member! I know you have to do what you feel is right for you and I wish you all the very best in your future endeavours. But, I just want you to know who much you will be missed! I still remember you on the radio having your legs waxed for the oldies dance coming up. Sorry, I know it was definitely painful for you, but you were soooo funny. I thought you made a beautiful girl in dressup at the dance too. I know, these are memories you would like to forget.
All the best Bob. Please know you will never be forgotten. Good Luck!
Valerie Belaire
- Valerie BelaireDear Bob, thank you so much for all you’ve done through the 10 years on CHFI. It was your warm caring voice that kept me & so many of us going throughout those years.
- Anne KelleherI was so shocked to hear of your leaving CHFI. I feel like I’m losing an old friend. Your classy professionalism & wonderful sense of humour helped keep me sane every afternoon while waiting ages for my regularly delayed Long Branch streetcar. I am so going to miss you!
Like so many others here I remember your start on the morning show. That awful day when Erin was no longer there, the way you handled yourself proved how much of a gentleman & a professional you are. The first day of your afternoon show when I heard your voice it felt like the return of a cherished friend. I felt like celebrating because everything was right with the world again.
May you have every success & happiness in your new endeavors. You’ll always be in our thoughts.
Bob,
I have been listening to CHFI for the past six years and I have to say that your afternoon show made the end of the work day at the office a much better environment. Your passion and energy on the air was top notch and that will be missed. Good luck with your next venture.
Take care.

Congrats Bob all the best in your new interests. I have listened to you for years, first with another radio station when you were with Sam and Robbie. You where the reason that I switched to CHFI. I will truly miss you on my drive home everyday to Burlington from Toronto. Good Luck.
- Audrey WardBob, what a loss, I have listened to you during you radio career in Toronto. followed your stories about your family. I even met you once, long ago at a consumer show in Markham. You have a great sense of humor. you will be missed, the number of emails on your blog will attest to that.
- Loyal listener“May you have…

Good Luck Bob!
Bob – My drive home every night will never be the same. Your silly comments always made me giggle. Best of luck in your new adventure. You will truly be missed!!!!
- GayleI can’t help but share one of my fondest memories of Bob Magee (although there are many!!!!). At the time, I was the CHFI Promotion Director and fairly new to the position. I and one coordinator were hauling big boxes out of the station vehicle to bring into the theatre where Bob Magee was going to be hosting a movie premiere. Bob saw us in the parking lot and came over without hesitation. Now, I didn’t know much about Bob…except that he was a well respecting, highly popular Toronto radio personality on the number one station in Canada!!!!!! And here he was coming over to the vehicle, taking the boxes literally out of our hands and insisting that he carry them inside for us. I knew then and there that he was one in a million. No huge ego and truly a class act!
I have never forgotten nor will I ever forget his kindness not just then, but over the years!
Bob (your good looks aside), you are truly a warm-hearted, generous, funny, talented, honest, hard-working individual who has always graciously given of yourself to your listeners, to the community and to your family and friends!
I will miss those dulcet tones over the air…..But I assure you, I’ll get my dose, as this treasured friendship will not fade away.
Always wishing you the very best that life has to offer and much success in anything you ever choose to do.
Much love,
Vicky Belfiore Haas

Wow — I have listened to CHFI since it was Don and Erin (with a slight digression when there was no Erin — but only for the morning show — my radio at work never changed from CHFI).
You have been a companion for many years and for the last three years in particular when I had to start driving to meet the daycare hours. The drive home just won’t be the same.
Good luck in your new adventure — I too am leaving my current position after 10 years. Maybe this is symbolic — change all round!
- JackieWow. Don’t visit the home page for a few days and look what happens. I will miss you and your chuckling very much; however, we all have to move forward and I hope your Company does very well. I will miss you.
- WendyBob,
- JudiWe have been listening to CHFI since moving down to Southern Ontario in ’93. You’ve made our mornings brighter and our afternoons full of good music and laughter.
Enjoy your new lifestyle and hopefully we will see you in the Muskoka area at some function.
Good luck and thanks again!
It is my privilege to add my voice to those who are paying tribute to the one and only Bob Magee.
I’ve been professionally inspired by Bob Magee, as well as personally indebted.
As a young, aspiring broadcaster, working in a small radio station in Barrie, Ontario, I once called Bob to ask for his help. I wondered, at the time: Could I send him a tape, and, perhaps, could he take time to review it and, maybe, send me his thoughts?
Now, Bob didn’t know me at all. Had never heard of me. I was all of 22 years old and struggling with my career. He told me not to bother SENDING him a tape. What I should do, he said, was bring it to him myself and he’d be glad to have a listen, give his thoughts, AND take me to lunch.
That’s just what happened. It happened on a number of occasions, as he took me under his wing, providing radio savvy, essential information on how to go about my business as an announcer, and, most importantly, boundless encouragement.
Coming from a broadcaster I idolized, you can imagine how crucial that was.
Here I am, having attained my goal of hosting a morning radio show in Toronto. I say, without hesitation, that I don’t believe I would have accomplished it without the mentoring Bob gave me during the formative stages of my broadcast life.
I still remember, clearly, some of the lessons Mr. Magee imparted to me , so many years ago.
Bob, thank you. For your kindness, for your guidance and, of course, for your inimitable radio style.
Here’s to one of the truly great voices in the history of Toronto radio.

Hi Bob,
I have been listening to CHFI for more than 10 years and remember when you first came onboard. Such changes you have gone through and CHFI listeners less, but traumatic times for all of us.
And now you are on to bigger and better things. Enjoy your days as you realise a dream, and in such a beautiful area of Ontario.
Thank you for all your great shows at CHFI and best of luck in your new endevour.

- Jan ChurchHi Bob, as I write this I am listening to your voice. I have listened to you since the morning show with Erin. I can’t believe that you won’t be with me on my drive home every night. I wish you all the best in your new life – but things just won’t be the same without you. Your cat stories are the best and when you do the “give a kid a coat” campaign every year, you touch my heart. You have made me laugh and cry over the years. It takes a special person to do that and his name is Bob Magee! There’s an old song that expresses my wish for you and the lines go like this: “I wish you blue birds in the spring to give your heart a song to sing, I wish you health much more than wealth, but most of all when snow flakes fall, I wish you love”
- DianeAs with all families, there comes a time when we must let some go…to move on in their lives and explore new venues. It is always a heart wrenching time; watching our family change. Well, Bob, you have definitely been part of my family. Your sense of humour, wit, loyalty, dedication and love of life have made you one of the best parts of my day and you will be missed. It is time to let you go, wish you well and say farewell. With tears and smiles I will miss you and remember you. Thank you for years of fun. The CHFI family will be forever changed as will your loyal listeners… all the best with your new ‘career’ and I sure hope to hear your voice on the radio again someday.
Congratulations and success to you always.

Hi Bob, It is a sad day indeed! I have enjoyed listening to you since you joined CHFI, and you will be missed. The drive home will not be the same – I’ll miss your humour and wit. Will you continue to do the give a kid a coat camp outs?

- Pearl GabrielHi Bob:
Just to let you know that we will miss you greatly when you leave CHFI tomorrow. I stopped listening to the morning show when you and Erin were taken off, but tuned back in for 10 am show and onwards at that time. Of coure, I listen all day now that the CHFI team has been complete. Sure hope that whoever fills your shoes (and it will be very hard) keeps us listening all day without having to flip around. Your humour and wit always leaves a smile around our house. You are going to be so missed. All the very best to you and your family. Very best wishes to your new endeavours and much success is being wished your way!!!!

You have always been such a huge inspiration. You taught me what it was to be a storyteller… and to know where the punchline belonged. You have the most beautiful voice. You challenged me. And shared the best music I have ever heard.

Wishing you well in the next chapter in your life. Be strong and we hope to hear you on the air again real soon. I will miss you on my ride home in the afternoons. You are a special person, kind in every way. Take care Bob, and Good Luck.

While driving home each day, I could always count on you to put a smile on my face (no matter how bad the day might have been up to that point).
I will miss your sense of humour each afternoon, but I wish you all the best in your future endeavours.
Enjoy this next chapter in your life!
- LindaDear Bob, What a shock! Listening to Erin this morning, driving along on my way to work only to hear her say that you will be leaving today! I have been listening from ever since and have enjoyed the sound of your your sexy voice. They say a change is always as good as a rest. Bonne chance, you’ll be sorely missed.

Ahhhh Bob, gonna miss you! How will I ever make it home without you at the end of the day? Good luck and best wishes in your future endeavors.
- LizDear Bob:
I’m gonna miss your wonderful voice in the afternoons. I always enjoyed your show because you always had some zingers that would crack me up. It’s like….what topic will Bob take and give us a funny, new perspective on? I’m so glad to hear you’ll do some freelance work and that you are pursuing your own personal dreams. I wish you only the best! Will you continue to do the coat drive? I’ve already been planning to make a bigger contribution next year. What a wonderful idea you had. I wish you much happiness and continued success.

Take care and I wish you the very best in your future plans and hope your dreams come true.

- Sherylyou are such a big part of CHFI, it will seem very odd not to hear you on the radio next week. I have been a loyal listener for years, starting with you and Erin when I came to Canada. Of late, you have made my long drive home tolerable and I don’t look forward to that drive next week. Your voice, sense of humour and wit will definitely be missed. Best of luch in the future, hope we get to hear that great voice again.
Take care,

Hi Bob:
I have been listening to you ever since you started at CHFI filling in for Don Daynard. The radio station did a poll asking who should replace Don and I made sure that I voted for you. Ten years ago, I commuted from Burlington to Toronto by car and you made the drive easier. You and Erin had me laughing out loud on many occassions. Then you moved to the afternoon show. By then, I decided I had a change of jobs, but I could commute by Go train. I bought a small radion and listen to your show on the way home. You made a long commute so much more bearable and I loved listening to your stories. I will miss them! Thank you for 10 wonderful years and all the best to you in your new venture. I will miss you.
- Linda WillisDear Bob
Congratulations on your new career you will be missed dearly, I enjoyed your show and to see what you do for the community (GIVE A KID A COAT PROGRAM).
I enjoyed going out to the different locations and donating coats for such a good cause .
I wish you all the best
Lori from Brampton
- Lori LajeunesseHi Bob:
I too have listened to you for the last 10 years. We dropped out to see you more than once at the Coats for Kids, (who will they find to camp out without a coat now?) You are one in a million and you will be missed. I know how difficult it is to strike out on your own but I also know that your friends and family will always be there to support you. I know you will make a Home Run with the business and in the great white north you will have your memories of CHFI and the listeners to keep you warm.
- Christine MoczkodanBob
I first listened to you in the morning and now I listen after work. Thank you for the wonderful music you play, and for all of your humanitarian work. Good luck to you and your family in your future endeavours. You will be missed! Cheers.
- MargoBob, as Erin said you have class! I’ll never forget how well you handled the announcement that Erin would not be back (little did we know)
- Jackie StewartThanks for all of the “sharing” time we had both in the mornings and on my drive home. Best wishes with your company!
BOB:
We’re CHFI listeners that go way back beyond the 10 years we’ve been listening to you. Over those years we’ve heard many wonderful stories. Yours, however, always put that extra smile on our faces. Your banter with Laurie Turcott is the best, as evidenced by her laughter.
Thanks also for repeating the 5:00 o’clock song at about 5:20 for those of us Loyalty Club Members that leave work at 5:00 o’clock but don’t get into into the car until 5:05.
All the very best guy.
Goofy, aka Robert
- Goofy, aka Robert WhiteThanks for all of the great moments that you gave us both on the morning show and the afternoon drive home.
Best wishes in all your new endivers
- SueBob… As I write this, I am reminded of the sudden exit of Erin Davis as the news has come as a shock as well. I have enjoyed your banter, ease of storytelling and compassion you have displayed when championing your cause of the moment. It’s amazing how we become so attached to the people in our lives that their sudden departure causes us to “well up”. An outsider would probably say “these people need to get a life!” .. they don’t understand that this is part of life and the experiences we share! I also have met you on a few occasions, Oldies Dances for one and found you to be as charming in person as on the radio. I wish you all the best for your future endeavours and know you have left an indelible mark on many lives. I write this on behalf of myself and my husband Rudy, and my brother James and his wife Nikki. Congratulations!
- Mary Ann KerschlHi Bob,
I had heard through a friend in the biz that you were leaving. I wish you all the best in your new venture. I enjoyed listening to you and occasionally talking with you on the phone. Take care and all the best to you in your new venture. Where are you going???
Darlene~
- DarleneBob I just must have not been listening to close lately as I just hear Erin saying on the radio this morning that this was your last day.
I have listened to you for the past 10 years and have always enjoyed your show. You will be greatly missed but I do know sometimes you have to giveup on something you love to enhance your life and I am sure this is the case. I hope you will still do the coat drive as it will never be the same without you and all those people that have gained the warmth of a winter coat each year will certainly miss what you have done for them.
Have a great life and remember you will always be missed by your loyal follower’s.
Good luch and God Bless you

- Bill MarshallI am really going to miss those terrible puns of yours and the banter with laurie Turcotte. We have talked over the years and I like to think of you as a friend. As a listener of 40 plus years I feel you were the best all round DJ, AM Days PM. Didn’t matter. Best luck at your black fly, mosquito, inhabited cottage.
Will miss you

Life is nothing if not change. I, like so many others, have dealt with change throughout my life, but for some reason we always think our DJ’s will never leave us. They become a daily part of our lives,so to hear of Bob Magee’s departure from CHFI and the afternoon drive home is almost unthinkable. How many times that wonderful voice has cheered me up from an otherwise stressful day at work; how many times has that melodic voice awakened me at 5:00 a.m. when Bob did the morning show with Erin? I’ve been with you throughout your time at CHFI, you have brought tears to my eyes throughout the Coats for Kids Charity Drive, I have caught myself smiling as I listened to your ‘jokes’, your stories and your tales of what life brought you. Classy doesn’t even begin to describe Toronto’s Bob Magee. But life is about change and I applaud you for having the courage and the determination to embark on a new chapter in your life. May this chapter bring you all that you want it to. From reading some of the comments posted by CHFI listeners you can be assured your presence in our lives will be missed. Best of everything to you Bob – thanks for the many memories, tears and laughter throughout my ten years with you — whether it be getting ready to start my day or wind it down! Take good care and THANK YOU. It goes without saying that you will continue to thrive in your Muskoka paradise.
~Tina Towell
- TinaBob, Bob, I can’t believe it. I can’t believe it’s been ten years since I started listening to you and Erin in the morning and I can’t believe you’re leaving.
Who’s going to get us home through all that traffic and leave us with smiles on our faces? It just won’t be the same without your wacky sense of humour making me crack up as I make my way home. You were great with Erin in the morning and you are terrific as our afternoon host.
Much, much great luck with this next chapter in your life. Enjoy and I hope you stay in touch with all your friends at CHFI so that all us loyal listeners find out how you are doing. Take care.

Hi Bob: Wishing you all the very best as you begin your new chapter. I know you will do well! However, you will be greatly missed at 98.1 – I have enjoyed listening to you for many years; first with Erin and then your own show. You are a class act. Cheers

Just to wish you the best of everything in your new adventure. Sure will miss you on the drive home and your witty comments just before the traffic report around 5:30 pm.
- Hazel ButcherBob, I wish you all the best in your future endeavours. You’ll be missed.
- Betty FitzpatrickHi Bob,
As so many other people have commented on your generous personality, your warmth, your caring, your fun spirit, etc. I don’t need to add that again. But what about that cute face and sparkly blue eyes? To me you were the ultimate “pretty boy” at CHFI (no offence to the others left behind!) But the opportunity to work for yourself… and at the cottage – wow, lucky you! Enjoy the laid back pace and go forth and prosper! All the best,
Jan Johnson

- Joveythanks for keeping me company on my way home after work. Makes for a lighter home commute after a stressful day. I also enjoyed the time when you and Erin were doing the morning show together. It also kept me company on my way to work. All the best and here’s hoping to hear from you on the radio down the road.
Warmest Regards…Jovey
What do you say to a wonderful person such as yourself who has given us so much of your life. You will be sadly missed on the radio. You have touched so many people during your career and helped many as well without even knowing it. May you be blessed with even more success than you have had to date. You have always felt like family and hope you will keep us all updated with how your life continues. You are much loved and will be missed.

- Kathy McNeilI was shocked this morning to learn this was your last day at CHFI. I would just like to wish you all of the best as you start begin your new endeavour in Muskoka. Such a lovely place to work from (I always look forward to my summer holidays). But I digress – I will miss hearing your wonderful voice and the great stories. Best of luck! – Kathy McNeil
Know that you have been great at what you do, you have been admired and appreciated for what you do, and you have made a difference. You have left your footprint by dancing to your own music and now you are merely changing the dance, not the music.
- JoanneBest wishes. I will miss your company on my way home.
I listened to you every day and sure I will miss you. I wish you all the best on your new adventure.
Ingrid
- Ingrid SikorskiDear Bob,
I will miss hearing your friendly voice and your terrific sense of humour on CHFI. I switch between listening to CHFI and Classical 96.3 FM in the afternoons and I feel very lucky to have listened to your station today. I want to thank you for playing two of my favourite songs back-to-back today: “Insensitive” by Jann Arden and “Love Story” by Taylor Swift. I also listened to you on Tuesday afternoon of this week and just before 3 p.m. on that day you played one of my all-time favourite songs “With Or Without You” by U2 and then at around 5:30 p.m. you played “Insensitive” by Jann Arden. Listening to songs like that really make my day and I’m sad to know that today is your last day with CHFI. Good luck with all of your future endeavours, Bob.
Sincerely,
Tom Cheung
- Tom CheungBob, we have been with you for 10 years and wish you all the best in your new endeavours. I will miss your humor you always make me smile even though I’m having a bad day and you always replied to your e-mails which I think is fantastic. Good luck to you in your new business (will we ever find out what that business is!!!!)
Stay in touch with the station.
Love ya

Hi Bob – after listening to you for the last 10 years I can’t believe this is our last afternoon together. You have kept me company at the office and on the long drive home on the DVP. Have enjoyed hearing about your time with your daughters. Do hope to hear you filling in periodically. Wishing you much success in your new endeavour. All the best!
- LyndaYing and Yang – You leave for better things, we’re sure, and we are left with waiving a tearful farewell.
I have enjoyed listening to you from the moment you substituted for Don in the mornings. You filled my afternoons with laughter, as you commented on life’s absurdities. And thru it all, you maintained your moral compass, never giving voice to your favourite deodorant, pot, pan, restaurant or vehicle!
What fortitude!
Wishing you success in your new endeavour. May life bring you only laughter.
Jessica
- Jessica RothHi Bob, I have been listening to you from day one, when you joined CHFI. I will always treasure the picture of you and I, at Sherway Gardens, when you and Erin camped out for the food drive.(I was the one who came in wearing the pajamas)

- JoyBob:
Can’t believe I’m listening to your last show. It doesn’t seem real at the moment. All the best in your future endeavours — I have no doubt you will find success and happiness in your life after CHFI.
I still recall the class with which you announced the Morning show as we knew it with you and Erin would no longer be. I was stunned, but what resonated was the professionalism with which you carried out what must have been an extremely difficult task. On the lighter side I will always remember the times I was laughing along with Laurie T when you would catch her off guard with one of your comments. What a great stress relief after a day of work.
The airwaves have lost a true gem!!!!
Donna
- Donna ThompsonHave driven home with you soooooooo many times…and you will be missed…but I wish you all the best!
Take care!

Well Bob, what a sad day for all us listeners! You will be missed big time. Our drives home will not be the same!
All the best in your “new venture” as you begin this next chapter in your life.
Hope we get the opportunity to hear you on air occasionally on CHFI and also to hear news updates about you from time to time.
All the very best.
- Carol McCormickWhaaaaaa! Whaaaaa! I’m feeling like Peanuts without his “blankie.” Bob, did you have to take Barack Obama so seriously about “change”? Everything I thought of saying, has already been said. Wishing you all of that & much more. Yes, life is all about change…let me not start about changes over the past 10 years…and yet, you were a constant until now. Follow your dreams as 10 years ago, I swear I could conquer Everest…now, watch me ‘conquer’ the stairs to bed…pathetic. Stay healthy, be thankful for each day that comes and enjoy. Luv you, ba-bye, go forth & conquer (there’s that word again!!!)
- Vivia CampbellVivia
Bob – I know I’ve already emailed you after I heard the news this morning – but couldnt get over all these msgs on your Blog!! – My husband always laughs at what a groupie I am – I met you at the Fireworks at Ontario place when I won some tickets. ALso on August 19, 2005 that nite of the big storm, I was on my way to my party and heard you mention on the radio that Ian had just called you to say he was stuck in traffic and was on his way to DJ at a 50th party – I thought HEY THAT IS MEEEEE – I was going to call you for Ian’s no. but when I heard you – I relaxed and knew he was on his way -LOL.
So many great memories – and yes I too will always remember that morning – what an amazing person you are. WIll miss your cool voice on the radio and I dont know who can replace you!!!
Take care and all the best in your new career – you’re so lucky to have the opportunity!
- Angela Yee LoongAngela

Thank You, Thank You Bob for many fine hours of great listening.
It is true what everyone has been saying I have followed from the Don Daynard days until now you have such a caring manner and a gentle voice.

Elaine
- ElaineHey Bob! I listen to you on the way home every week-day and will greatly miss your voice and especially your humor ie. traffic girl Laurie T. making her laugh uncontrollably! It won’t be the same. Will you still be doing the winter coat tenting with Rogers?? Good-luck in all that you do and have dreamed of doing to fulfill your life! I know what it is like to hunger for a chance to at least try and I am sure you will succeed in a great way. Congrats. Oshawa/Pat
- Patricia QuallyBOB
I love your show, I followed you to CHFI from the CHUM morning show. I recall one morning turning on the radio and your voice was no longer there. I kept turning the dial thinking I had the wrong station, but that was not the case. When a friend of mine told me you were filling in for Don Daynard I switched to CHFI and started listening to you there. Will miss hearing your voice and comments again;
That said – I wish you the VERY BEST in your new endeavors

My girls always looked forward to gathering up old coats to bring over to you.
I listened to you when you started the morning show with Erin. Not to brag, but I won a car from the morning show that you were on. So when I am driving my car and listening to CHFI, you will be thought of. Best of luck You deserve it.

- Anitayour warm, heartfelt, classy presence will be missed greatly – your repartee made everyone you worked with sound even better – and made our days and our trips lighter with laughter and the best music and stories! May your load be light, your canteen always full, and your days full of the same joy, fun and fullness you gave to all of us. Aloha and don’t be a stranger!
You will be missed dearly. I enjoy listening to your show every morning. Good luck and all the best in the future. Christine Soucie..
- To BobBob, Good luck in your new venture. Sure will miss you on the afternoon show. Have enjoyed your humour very much. You certainly have given me a lot of good laughs on some very dreary days.
- EleanorThanks!
Bob,
I remember your first day of “officially” being Erin’s co-host. YOU WERE LATE!!!! It was also your 50th birthday too, I believe, so everyone forgave you. When you used to fill in for Don Daynard, I used to think you would make a fabulous replacement for Don if he ever left CHFI as your chemistry with Erin was fabulous.
Good luck in your new venture and God Bless.
- CindyDear Bob
I am very sorry to hear that you by now have left CHFI. It has been a great time listening to your voice which I recognize any time you speak on the radio. CHFI will have a very very difficult time replacing you (impossible). I have been listening since Don Dainard was an announcer. I am very jealous of you moving north as I miss my previous home so much. I would like to take this opportunity to wish you everything you want in your future. Congratulations, I will truly miss you.
- Jean GunnBob,
- LisaI own a retail store and we listen to you everyday. Things will never be the same. I will truly miss you.
Best of luck to you.
Lisa
I ‘second’ all of the above and add Funny, Wise, Wonderful and Gracious. Enjoy your Vocation!
- Meredith KerriganBob, my afternoons will be empty now. I have the radio on all day and your humour has kept me going when I was lagging in the afternoon or on the drive home. I am so very sorry to hear that you are leaving. Unfortunate (for me) that all good things come to an end. I have listened to CHFI for years and was extremely happy that you didn’t leave several years ago. You were also an extremely integral part of my life on Apr 29/04! I will miss listening to you so very much, Bob. Thank you for all the great times, the humour, and making my afternoons that much more pleasant. I wish you all the best in your new endeavour and I really hope you come back for several guest spots/hosting.
- Linda BridgewaterMR. Bob Magee…What are we going to do without you. When driving home at night after sometimes the worst day you put a smile on my face. When I heard you were leaving and even while writing this my eyes are full of tears. I wish you all the best but believe me when I say you are going to be truly missed.
Wendy
- WendyAll the best to you in your new venture. I enjoyed you when it was Erin and Bob and you were great on the afternoon show.
- Mary LouBob,
This has been one of the moments I have dreaded for the past few weeks, after learning about your departure. Sometimes its easier to write things out because then you can’t hear me sniffling. I remember the moment I got the call about getting paired up with you for the afternoon show…I was so excited because I had heard your warmth and wit on the air. I couldn’t even begin to tell you the relief I felt at having such easy interaction with you right from the start. When things were absolutely melting down at 680 News, you were that calm and steady partner on the other end who made my most difficult shifts so much easier! To share the same type of humor made the afternoon show the best part of my day! And even though we were situated a half block apart in our stations, I could follow you like we danced these steps a hundred times before. You have been more than a co-worker to me. We shared our family difficulties off the air, and the shared burden was so much easier to bear. If you were just a co-worker, my heart wouldn’t be in my throat as I write this. I consider our 4 years together as the highlight of my career in broadcasting. Some of our funniest moments will always be with me, so when I miss you, I can just remember how much richer I am for having been your afternoon partner. You know I hate goodbye, so I’m just going to stalk you after you leave. LOL. Love you, my friend!
- Laurie TurcotteLaurie
You will be missed. Now who will fill your shoes at CHFI? I have listened to the station for years, and enjoyed listening to you on my way home from work for the last few years. Good Luck in your endeavours.
- Janice Gillan- Janice
Its really sad to see you leave. I wish you nothing but the best. Good luck and Goodbye. sniff…sniff…sniff..

I have listened to you pretty much everyday that you have been on the air at CHFI your morning show with Erin enough can not be said, your afternoon show with the traffic reporter Laurie helps me through a miserable drive every day. Good Luck in your new future I wish you nothing but the very best, and will miss you. Wish I was moving to Muskoka to. Lyle
- Lyle TorranceBob,
- Kerry Lee HawkinsI have thoroughly enjoyed that smooth, calm and beautiful voice of yours since the CHUM days and I will miss you but knowing that you are fulfilling the next chapter in your life makes me happy for you. I had the honour of meeting you at an Oldies Dance and knew you immediately by your gorgeous smile even though you were incognito as one of the Beatles from Sgt. Pepper!
All the best – love ya bye bye

We will miss listening to you on the drive home.
Best Wishes, Linda
- LindaI will miss your cute snd sometimes unusual comments, which make you think and chuckle most of the time, your good deeds, especially the annual coat drive, but mostly I will miss the 5:00 tune! You were always spot on and sometimes a little early, but never late and I was frustrated because I missed the informatin. St times, if I missed it the second time around 20 after 5:00 I was really annoyed missing it and forfeiting mt Loyalty Club Points but now that you are leaving CHFI,I know I will miss your distinct voice full of impish glee.
All the best for the future from a Loyal fan.
Sincerely, Susan Gimma
- Susan GimmaHi Bob. My husband and I want to wish you all the best in your expanding career. We have listened to you in the early mornings and during your evening show over the years. Your humour is infectious and sometimes I find myself laughing out loud in the car so much so that people around me must think I am totally out of my mind. Thanks for being there especially at the end of a busy workday when I need to unwind. All the best!!!
- Susan RonaldWe are very sorry to hear you are leaving CHFI. We remember your first morning when you “slept in”!! It has been such a pleasure listening to you….we wish you all the best and will certainly miss your voice on the radio.

Candy King Brantford
Dear Mr. Bob Magee,
When I heard you were leaving CHFI I couldn’t believe my ears! I have been listening to you for years, long before CHFI. I met you two years ago at your annual coat drive and after shaking your hand I felt like I made a new friend. You were so warm and sincere and gracious. Erin Davis said it best, you are one class act. When Erin left CHFI, I did too! But you brought me back, actually, because although Erin wasn’t there anymore, I missed you and the rest of the gang. Just wanted to say, what a pleasure it was to have met you at the Chum 50th Anniversay tribute week when you were in to do an airshift on 1050 Chum.I absolutely, loved your morning show on the nifty 1050 with Robbie, and Sam all those years ago. The airwaves have been silenced once again..as another great broadcaster makes his departure.
Kym Geddes
- Kym GeddesI enjoy listening to your great sense of humour in the afternoon. It was great that one of your best moments was doing the 98 hour coat donation in Nov. Best of luck to you.

I’ve been a fan of yours for what seems like forever and a day, and I will definitely miss you. CHFI has a big chair to fill, but I know your successor will do just as well as you have, and will end up just as loved as you – there is talent galore ‘out there’, but you know, we’ll always miss you, you are the best of the best. I wish you well, I wish you joy and happiness in whatever you do.

- Kym GeddesHi Bob, Why did I not hear about this earlier? I will miss you terribly, maybe even stop listening to CHFI as I am feeling doubly bad, no win through the Loyalty Club and now you are going. Why, why? I rushed home on the GO and had to send you this message. Hope you do well in your new venture and we hear your voice in documentaries on air and on TV. Well life must go on, take care and best wishes. I will be watching.
- CeliaJust heard the news that you are leaving CHFI. I have been following your career since the “old days” at CHUM 1050. I am going to miss your quick wit and cute stories. And as we all know, nothing ever stays the same for long, so I wish you best of luck in your new adventure.

- Marvette McLaughlinDear Bob,
I am so sad that you are leaving the CHFI Family, but I am very happy that you are venturing to a new career which I am sure will be a big success.

HI Bob
I remember you filling in for Don I think it was in the summer, I phoned the station and said you would make a good replacement for him when he left. Next thing I know you and Erin are entertaining on TV and every morning, I was so disappointed when Erin and you were replaced and turned off the radio, along with others that I talked to. I never did manage to listen to you in the afternoon, I really miss the banter between you and Erin, Darryl and Russ, and all your stories of family etc.
Good luck with your new ventures.
Shirley
- ShirleyWell Bob, I just listened to your last on-air show with CHFI… Boy, this is a tough one. What will we do without ‘our’ Bob Magee? You are going to be missed so very much at 98.1. I wish you all the best ‘Up North’ – follow your heart. God bless you and keep you in the palm of His hand.

Your kindness and quick humour will be missed on the airwaves. Health & Happiness Always.

Over the past ten years, you have always made people laugh. When the radio is on in the car and you are telling some of your funny stories, especially about your daughters, we start laughing and if you look at the car in the next lane, changes are that they are laughing along with everyone else that has had the privilege of listing to you.
All the best in your future endeavours and we will miss you.
- Gail ParsonsBob… you will be missed sincerely. I listened to you every day for so many years and not hearing your voice will be hard. Thank you for all the laughs and I wish you the best.

- ValerieI don’t know what rock my head has been under but today is the first I’ve heard of you leaving. Oh I will miss you on my trip home every night. I remember when you would stand in when Don was on holidays. It was you that got Erin to shave her head for cancer. I was at Don’s farewell on Dec. 10 1998 or 99(it was my B/D. I didn’t realize you were 3 days younger. ) I saw you at Erin Mills Town Center 3 years ago. I brought my dog (and a coat) The dog Abby was a very big and fluffy Goldendoodle which you thought could keep you warm. Anyways I know I’m rambling but you are like family. I wish you only good wishes and I will miss you.

real sorry to see you go, you will be missed – good luck with your new endeavour.
- Bev NovakovichBob, like many people, I’ve been listening to you since you co-hosted with Erin Davis. I’ve always enjoyed your sense of humour, and your, um, unique way of looking at things.
I didn’t know how much I appreciated that humour until you hosted the afternoon show. My job can be very stressful and I work long days. There were times when Mr. Murphy Law came for a visit, and by the end of the day, I was tired, and then to sit in traffic, trying to get home, sometimes, I thought I would just break down. However, I always listen to the radio, and numerous time, you would say the funniest thing, and I would start to feel better. By the time I got home, I had a smile on my face.
Thank you for being there.
You will be missed.
Best of luck!
- GloriaHi Bob:
I just wanted to wish you all the best in your new venture. I have listened and followed you over the many years and even my 7 year old son who listens to you on our way home said “What Bob Magee is leaving?” He especially remembers you for the kids’ coat drive. Wishing you good health, happiness and contentment for many years to come. P.S You sure you haven’t changed your mind LOL!
- AbigailBob – I could repeat all the wonderful things that have been said, and they would be true. Just one thought! Enjoy Muskoka and your mahogony boats! As a 6th generation Muskoka cottager – I am very envious.
Take care, relax, but have fun in your new venture.

Ode to Bobby Magee
End of a work day in old TO
heading for the train
Feeling nearly faded as my jeans.
Along the tracks the GO deisel comes down
Just before it rained
Took me all the way to Pickering
Shuffeling papers slapping time
I was listening to Bobby’s show so fine
He played every song that I ever knew
Freedoms just another word for nothing left to lose
- Sharon MorariAnd nothing ain’t worth nothing honey if it ain’t free
Someone who is really great Lord,
Will have to try and fill his shoes
But his leaving and feeling good is enough for me
Good enough for me and Bobby Magee
One day near Scarborough Lord
I heard he was going away
Looking for other things to persue
But I would trade all of my tomorrows for a single yesterday
Just to hear his voice one more time, just to hear his sweet voice one more time
BOB…I LOVED YOUR SENSE OF HUMOUR AND I WILL MISS IT AND YOU. ALL THE BEST. FRAN.
- FRANI will Miss Bob as well. He has a great voice and personality for the radio. He was great at the CHFI Family Skate’s and when I won the Birthday game many years ago, his voice was just as excited as mine. He has great humour and commitment to everything he does, has taken him to the next pages of his life and I wish him all the success and happiness that is well deserved.
- JanI was SHOCKED!!!! to say the least when I heared that you were leaving. It has been a great 10 years. You will be greatly missed! But, I wish you all the best and great sucessin your new venture.

Radio voices become a reassuring and entertaining part of the daily routine. First you and Erin in the a.m, then you in the p.m. and, after a bit, Erin and Mike in the a.m. No matter how disconcerting life becomes, we always have you to keep us relaxed and distracted. You, just like Erin and Mike, are compelling voices who smack of warmth and friendship. I can’t imagine that Laurie’s laugh will ever be the same and, for us, your voice will continue to be associated with our afternoon activities. All the best in your new ventures!
- Gary and Harmony Aitken-Gary
I listened to CHFI for quite some time now and the thing I enjoyed was listening to you and your collegues on the radio. I would be laughing at my desk at work. You made my day go by very quickly at work. CHFI is a great station and you will be very missed on air. Best of luck to you in everything that you do.
- MichelleWow! Everything’s been said and written. Best of luck! I’m pretty sure you’ll do well.
Sincerely,
Victoria

- Victoria MenesesI always liked your style on 1050 Chum of no pretentiousness easy kind of manner, and you just seemed like a down to earth guy. I would put you up with Jay Nelson as far as an announcer with that kind of skill.I just happened to catch you the other afternoon on CHFI and you haven’t changed it seems. Unfortunately I can’t listen to you in the afternoon because I am at work.
Good luck with your business. I am curious as to what it is.
- barryI really enjoyed listening to you in the air in the past couples of years. You will be missed.
- Raymond SIUGood luck. Wish you all the best in future.
I will miss you, specially on my way home from work.
Thank you for keeping me company every day for so many years.
Good luck, and all the best in the future.

Well… Bob Magee you’ve really done it now! Look at all the broken hearts your leaving has left behind! Everybody is worried about their drive home now. Do you really want to leave at the height of such adoration? Personally for me, when the workday is done I turn on the radio, giggle, smile, shake my head and say “There’s not too many people gifted with such spontaneity, it’s fun to listen to him.” Can’t imagine you’ll be happy not making so many people laugh. So my guess is you’lllllll be back, your humor needs an outlet! We’ll give you some time to get this other thing out of your system and we’ll look for your return. Just don’t wait too long…we’re all waiting with baited breath. Wish you well Bob…we’ll be hearing from you soon!
- Joyce VitelliBob:
I have enjoyed listening to you since you started with CHFI in the mornings with Erin. I was happy that you didn’t leave but were put in the afternoon slot so I could listen to you on my way home from work. I really hope you do well with you new enterprise.
You shared so much of your life with us listeners, we couldn’t help but feel that you were a good friend, so candid and real.
Have a great time, doing what you want to do and following your dream. All the best of luck and good fortune my friend.
- BevBob,
Thank you for taking everyone through the weekday afternoon! Your amusing comments will be sorely missed.
I wish you the best in all of your endeavors!

Shedia Serrao Fredericks
- Shedia Serrao FredericksI will really miss you. I remember when you started full time on CHFI. i was working midnight shift and I got home to watch the retirement of Don Daynard and you taking over. You were a great co-host with Erin Davis, even during the rough times. I wish you the best of luck and hope you will come back for visits and also to do the coat for a child.
- Debbie PughBob – I have been listeing to you since you filled in for Don on the Morning Show with Erin and have enjoyed every minute.
Thank you again for the improptu “studio tour” you gave my daughter and I last fall when we stopped by the station to pick up the tickets for my trip to Cuba. Jackie told us you wouldn’t mind if we popped in and you certainly were a gracious host.
Best of luck in your new venture. You will be missed!

I liked listening to you for so many years because the smile in your voice was evident as you shared the music and your thoughts with us.
May you go from strength to strength, and find fulfillment in your work life and personal life.

CHFI’s listeners have always had the best! I began listening to you, Bob Magee, on CHUM 1050, and switched to CHFI too many years ago to mention. My first disappointment was losing Don Daynard; but the station redeemed itself by putting you on the air; my second disappointment was when Erin left the station; and then you were switched to afternoons; but at least you were still there. Now we listeners are losing YOU! Whatever will we do without that sexy, endearing voice every weekday afternoon? Our drive home will never be the same.
You have been the mainstay of CHFI, and even though the station will carry on, it won’t be quite the same – - we’ll miss you so very much.
Good luck in your new venture! May it be everything you are expecting it to be.
- Janis HeinbuchCongratulations Bob! Thanks for all the music over the years! Enjoy your new start! Colleen

You will be missed by all. Even though you can’t put our faces to our names so many of us have met you at one time or another. I met you a couple of times at you give a kid a coat weekend. You are a great person inside and out. I even called into the station a couple of times and spoke to you. You will be greatly missed and always loved by all of the CHFI listeners. Good Luck with your new dreams and best health you deserve it your the best.

Hi Bob:
Unbelievable how time flies when you are having so much fun in listening to your show & Voice (love that voice). Good Luck!! on your new experiences and hope you have fun as I have listening to you.
- DianneThank you for your great wit as I drove home from work. The traffic lady laughter added to your hummer and wit. All the very best, you will be missed.

Bob,
I began listening to CHFI 30 years ago as a young college student in Toronto. I remember your filling in for Don Daynard many times and it was a ‘no brainer’ as to who would take over that morning role with Erin. I loved your show in the morning and I loved it equally the same when you moved to the afternoon. I have thoroughly enjoyed your professionalism and humour over the past 10 years. During my drive home each night, I could always count on you to help me unwind after a stressful day. I particularly remember the day I became a Loyalty Club winner last November and how you always managed to pronounce my surname correctly. (not many do)! Your ability to make someone feel special is what makes you so special yourself. I wish you nothing but good health, happiness, and the very best of everything as you move forward with this next chapter in your life. Thanks for a great 10 years.
- Joan Maxwell GimpoliJoan
Bob I driving up north last Friday and my radio didn’t cut out as usual on Television rd. I stopped at Burleigh Falls for break ,continued the drive and heard your last words at BIG cedar and then the song I had goose bumps. The last time CHFI affected me like that Don Daynard was riding the horse out of Sheraton Centre oh well be safe and move on 2nd story
- JAX McMillanBob,

Bob, I was totally caught off guard when I heard you annouce just after 2:00 on June 12th that it was your last show. Where were you going was my first thought and why. Even though I’m glad to know you’ll be off doing something that you really want to do and enjoy, you’ll be sorely missed from 2:00 till 7:00. Wishing you the very best in all your future endeavours and hope to still see you at the next winter coat drive this fall. GOOD LUCK!

Bob we have known each other a few years now, and it was such a coincidence we knew of an opening when Don Daynard was leaving, and you went over and immediately got the job as his replacement. You later moved to afternoons, and we enjoyed you there as well. I would love to be your replacement but don’t know if Julie would have me haha – keep in touch, let us know what you are up to – your voice and wit will be missed on CHFI – you did them proud my friend –
- Jim BlakeJim
Dear Bob,
- Liz LangfordI have listen to you since you use to fill in for Don in the morning show, I use to enjoy you and erin together, I was sad when you were put in the afternoon, but I became a fan of the afternoon show, you are an amazing person so good on the radio, I will miss you so much, but I wish you all the best in what ever you do. take care
Liz Langford
Your sense of humour, I’ll miss the most. It’ll be very lonely driving home every day, I’ve been listening to you since – well I won’t say exactly how many years, but way before you started with chfi (remember the chum days?), anyway, congratulations on your new project, I wish you all the best, the afternoons just won’t be the same. But if they’re looking for a replacement, I think Darren Osborne should give it a whirl.
- Helen RTake care, Bob,
Helen
Hi Bob: I always enjoyed listening to you on my drive home…you will be missed, good luck with your new business.
- Mary Lou KellyJust a quick note to you Bob, it has all been said in the previous notes. Morning show humour & the drive home as well. I also remembered the cat story, when you brought it up the other day durning the show.
I can relate to your love of Muskoka, as I spend more & more time there myself.
Your past serves you well, and to the listeners we know you will be a shining star in your next endevour your are a walking success story.

- isobel greigBob, I’ve been a fan since the old days at the “other” radio station. As far as I was concerned, your wit and timing made the morning show. Since then, I’ve enjoyed listening to you in the afternoons and even to your voice-overs
!
- FreyaAll the best to you, and you will certainly be missed!
totally a classy man…when i changed my radio back to chfi at 10 am in the mornings after erin got sacked and finally found bob again i phoned in …asked what the *#$& they were thinking ??? and Bob was the consumate gentleman and saved the radio station a whole bunch of listeners from that day on! He’s so much fun and easy on the ears unlike who they replaced him and Erin with …Thank the heavens that they came to their senses with the morning team they have now! Gonna miss Bob a whole bunch!!!
- shelleyHello Bob
It was a pleasure to hear your voice everyday. You made my day so many times it’s hard to add them all up.
Some of the very long days working at CBC a specially last minute production would not be the same as when I head your voice.
- If you have a demo with your voice you can – only if you like submit to me – I’m the billboards producer for CBC -
Meeting you during the coat drive and after at St. Lucia just proved what a wonderful person you are.

- JoyAs I sat here listening to “your” show, I wondered where you had gone so went to the website to learn your wonderful news of starting something up on your own! Congrats! I’ve started my days with you, I’ve ended my days with you, I thought we’d be leading onto taking the “lovers & strangers” show but we end here! Enjoy the surroundings of the Muskokas and everything life brings, you certainly deserve it!
My first drive home tonight without your show. Some nights longer than others but the music and the laughs were always good.
- LoriLucky you for being able to do what you want. Lucky us for being able to share in all the good that you did.
It’s not good-bye, it’s just so long. I have been a CHFI listener for many, many years and will miss the smile in your voice on my drive home. Take care, and all the best in your new career.

Hello Bob:
- Linda KaneI’m happy that you’re moving on to your passion. It must have been a huge decision to make.
Like the others, I will miss your voice and humour on my drive home.
Fortunately, I have a great pic of you and I when dropped off some coats earlier in 2008.
Hoping you will visit CHFI often.

Dear Bob,
- Bev T.You will be missed! We have been avid listeners during your years “on air”. Your infectious laugh and sense of humour have made us laugh… especially on those drab and dreary weather days!!
Enjoy your cottage. We will look forward to your contributions to the air waves in days to come.

Bob, I have been spending the last hour or so reading the hundreds of heart-warming, fond and loving words from the listeners and your wonderful colleagues at CHFI that will miss you so dearly. I must admit that I have a few tears in my eyes, reading the wishes for you. Its hard to think up something original when you have so many blessings written here. The thought of not having you keep me company and making me laugh, heading home after a long day at the office is so sad. Its like loosing a dear friend, as I’ve been listening to you for many years. But enough about our loss…it is after all, all about YOU, for once! We will certainly miss you at the “Give a Kid a Coat” campaign this fall…(maybe not???).I met you there last year when I brought 92 coats from Canada Post. You were gracious and kind (and cold!), but you never complained once! You are the genuine thing, Bob. I wish you all the best! Take care of yourself and keep in touch with your thousands of CHFI friends!
- Robin PaquetteEnjoy!

I can’t believe you are leaving us. I remember when we need someone to take Don Daynard place i said pick Bob, you were so good and better today. I can’t forget that friday morning with tears you said Erin have left the building. I cry so much that morning, because you were all my family. I was so happy that you stay. I am going to miss you on my drive home from work every day. Bob what every you do be good to yourself. Good luck on your journey, and please come back and do the coats for kids. congratulations Much love Barbara.
- Barbara GrantHi Bob-
- Kathryn ElliottI was so shocked & somewhat upset when Erin announced Friday morning that you were doing your last show later that day. You will really be missed. You have a great voice & a natural way of relating to us ‘listeners’ -we get used to you like a friend & take you for granted. It was nice just knowing your voice would be there when I’d come home from work & turn on the radio.
The afternoon show seemed to work best for you in my opinion, as I never thought you & Erin worked well in the morning slot. When you juggled to the afternoon, a much better ‘you’ came out & I concluded you are not a morning person..or that Erin is too strong a character for you to deal with. You were perfect for the afternoon shift and I & my friends will miss you greatly.
I wish you the best in whatever you’re up to in the next while, & I hope Erin or others will keep us posted.
Best to you, then.
Kathryn
Hi Bob. You sure do show what class is all about. I have listened to you from your start at chfi, and called in to chat once and a while. I wish you all the best, and try ballroom dancing. Take care Bob. Trucker, Tom.
- Tom Mcilraveyso many good laughs over the years, I don’t know where to start. Your wit and dry humour got me right away. The way you made the rest of the team laugh and the great stories of your family. When you moved to the afternoon, I always felt it was a bit of karma for the ride home for me and all commuters. You were a treat and a great way to unwind.
- DianneI wish you the best in your next life adventure and hope the north gets to benefit.

- Linda ParryBob, there’s not much I can say that hasn’t already been said. I’ve been a fan since we used to listen to you on 1050 CHUM and I was so happy to find that as I had changed over to CHFI, so there you were too! You always could make me smile. I remember two years ago when you were hosting the winter coat drive and living in a Yerk. I dropped off a bunch of coats with my husband and two girls. You chatted with us for such a long time and my girls were just thrilled when you let them go into the Yert to see what it was like. I know there comes a time in everyone’s life when they must leave one thing to begin another and I’m sure you will be very successful in your new venture. Just know that you will be very missed. No one will be able to “replace” you. They will only be able to have someone fill your spot. We wish you great success and will miss you greatly! Good luck!
- Darrel NorrisHi Bob,
I have been sharing life with you since Bob, Sam and Robbie. I have enjoyed your company for many years. Your words have kept me company through break-ups, marriage, cancer, job losses and new careers and I thank you for the laughter and the music. - Bert FarringtonThank you Bob for being there for me first during the morning commute with Erin and then during the afternoon commute. The 45 minutes in the morning and the 45 minutes at night have always gone much faster because of you. Again thank you and good luck.
- JP MalcangiI first listened to Bob way back when on 1050 CHUM before he left and went back west. Even with the moniker change his dulcet tone was unmistakable, when he returned to town, and I’ve enjoyed listening to him ever since. May you enjoy the same success and pleasure in your new life as you’ve given your many listeners over the years. Cheers!
- MaryWell Bob, what a surprise that you are leaving — I was driving up to my cottage in Muskoka last Friday and heard your comment after the 5 o’clock song this is my last show and last time I will play this song that has some similiarity to me leaving — we will miss you after all these years..life does go on after our lifes with our business families –its been great and wishing you lots of luck in your new adventure!! I know my life change in career has been a pleasing in disguise
- Dale IhamakiHi Bob, Well my friend you will be missed. I have enjoyed listening to you right from the time you were with Erin on the morning show. I also I would like to say thanks for making my last trip to Vancouver a good one while I found you out there on the radio. I enjoyed your humour & the work you did for raising coats for the needy. I wish you the best of luck with your new venture & look forward to you filling in on CHFI. Cheers!

When I started listning to CHFII was so happy to hear you again .I agree with everyone you have a great sense of humour and I loved it when you made Laurie laugh just before she had to talk. I think that made people laugh when the traffic was bad and made them feel a little better. I am really going to miss you. I hope your new road in life is what you hoped it would be. Take care .

- C.B.I have been retired now for two years but my work day always started with Don and Erin, then Erin and Bob, then Bob and then Erin and Mike – always putting a smile on my face as I drove to work. The drive home became very relaxing when you took on that time slot. Your wonderful radio voice just soothed the day’s stress to allow a comfortable transition to home-life. I went back to do vacation relief and driving home on the Friday I was shocked by the news that you were leaving. You definitely have been an asset to CHFI and will be missed by all your faithful listeners. However, I share their well wishes and am sure that your new endeavours will be successful. Thanks for all the drive homes and I wish you all the very best.
Bev
- Bev OnkenHi Bob: Sad when I heard that you were leaving CHFI. Have listened to you since you were filling in on the morning show. Have got used to hearing you on my drive home, it will seem much longer without you. Good Luck in your new endeavour. Margaret
- Margaret GrantHi Bob! All the best!! I have enjoyed listening to you over the years! I have especially enjoyed your sense of humour!! Heather
- HeatherHello Bob,
I listen and enjoy your show. You will surely be missed. Good luck to your new venture. Good riddance and I wish you well.

- RichardI didn’t realize you were leaving….. I wish you all the best, but WOW, I’m really going to miss ya!!… good luck with your new venture….thanks for all the laughs…..Sherry
- SherryHi Bob, we met about five years ago. You were standing beside The Bay on Queen St. promoting the Santa Claus Parade. We talked and then you gave me a CHFI soup mug. I still have it in my kitchen.
I wish you all the best in your new venture. Please promote it too!
- Don BarrieBob I am experiencing withdrawal, not just from your music but from your corny jokes. I usually tell my friends if Bob ever take his show on the road he will need Laurie (the weather girl) to be his side kick. I love how she laughs at your weird jokes, and it’s like a chain reaction with me.
I’ve listened to you for many years, from the morning show until now, and you will be missed, oh well, there is always Darrell, lots of luck to you Bob, my dear friend who I never met.

Hi Bob,
I have just returned from vacation to find out you have already left CHFI. Like many others have said, I have listened to you since you started in the mornings taking over from Don Daynard and then into the afternoons. I will really miss you on the radio. I’d like to wish you all the very best in your future endeavours but hope it will not be the last we hear from you. It would be a treat to have you on the radio as a guest now and then and let us know how things are going for you.
A very big fan,
- Grace BruceGrace Bruce
Have been listening to you, Bob, since you started at CHFI – first in the mornings and then afternoons. I certainly echo the sentiments of the many people who have left their best wishes.
Good Luck in all that you do from here on and I shall miss you.
- JudyMaGee you have half the women in your back pocket just reading these. Need any help? Bert again
- Bert Farringtonwe wil miss uuuu
- raziaBob, I’m glad you are following your dream but I will miss your wonderful sense of humour. I’ve been a CHFI listener for ever and I always enjoyed you whether with Erin or solo on the way home from work. Good luck! You will be missed.
- Cathie SabourinHey Bob,
You will not regret working for yourself. I have been doing it for about 12 years and it is awesome.
Good luck,
- Cathy G.all the best Bob from your biggest fan from Olds Alberta
- jccAs I scan, and read through, the many tributes to you Bob, the lump in my throat grows and the tears begin in my eyes. Of course I agree with the view that all of your loyal fans hold of you…count me in too!…but what really shows the mettle of the man is the comments from your co-workers and peers. Riding off into the sunset and doing what your heart desires is the end result of a career well done, and you my friend deserve all of life’s blessings. It is time to move on to the next phase of your life and I wish you health, happiness and prosperity in all of your future endeavors. Thanks for being part of our lives and I look forward to your future projects with CHFI.
Regards and very best wishes.
- Doreen CableBob,
- ElaineYou are the one our family counts on during the afternoon. You have such a great sense of humor and you are terrific at what you do. You will be surely missed.
Best of luck in your new endeavor.
Bob,
I have enjoyed listening to you throughout your time with CHFI. I enjoyed meeting you and Erin at the Oldies Dance the year I won the trip to Barbados. It was a great pleasure for my daughter and me. And now, you have left us. But I want to wish you well and lots of luck in your new career. Please know that I am very envious of your new life (not begrudging though). All the best Bob and do drop in to CHFI sometimes. You will be (and already are) greatly missed.
Jean
- Jean MacRaeBest of luck Bob. Your listening public is going to miss you – big time. You HAVE to come back for the coat drive. Being your own boss you can give yourself at least one day off?!
Good luck,
- LeslieLeslie aka Rosie
Hi Bob,
- MariaI will miss your voice, your jokes. Good luck.
Bob:
- Eli BrooksOr should I say Bobby McGee? The final song you played on your last day left a small lump in my throat. Whenever I heard Janice Joplin singing Me and Bobby McGee I would always think about Chris Kristopherson — now I’ll always think about the one and only, totally original and loveable Bob McGee.
I remember talking to you a few times after the disasterous reorganization that took Erin away from us for a short time (too long, if you ask me) and you were so gracious and even gave me Erin’s e-mail address. One other absolutely fantastic memory I’ll always cherish is Christmas 2006 while driving in a snow storm, I called and asked if you could play “Six White Boomers”. Not only did you not say – “What the heck is that?” but you had made it the 5:00 favourite. I really enjoyed hearing it.
All the best to you in the next phase of your life and based on how successful you have been to date, I anticipate that the new venture will be just as successful. Enjoy yourself and every so often, give us a thought or two.
Dear Bob, You will be missed and I wish all the best in your future endevors! “God Bless”

- William HowittI have listened to you almost every day since you started. You have class , a soal,a heart of gold, and like all staff at CHFI , you have put a smile on our faces with your personality and made us feel comfortable as the day carried on. You will be missed the same way we all miss Don Daynard.
Bob, I sure miss you on my drive home! All the Best in your endeavours. Kellie
- Kellie TowersBob, Bob, I’ll miss you so !
- MAUREEN KERRI thoroughly loved and enjoyed your show. I loved your wit and sense of humour, can’t imagine my drive home this summer. A poet I’m not, but you’ll get the gist – just how much you will be missed. CONGRATULATIONS TO A GREAT GUY IN HIS NEW ENDEAVOURS. Maureen
Thank you for your awesome personality, Wisdom, etc that you shared with us over the years. Erin, Laurie said it the best. I did not get to listen as much as I wanted as GO Transit does not allow Drivers to have radios. I’ll continue dancing, & I wish we knew what your new career was, Maybe we could buy your product and that would help the business endeavour that you have entered. You and Laurie Turcotte sure seemed awesome together. BEST WISHES from JOHN R. FRASER
- John R. FraserBob I’ve been listening to your voice since Don & Erin parted and you took over with Erin. I’ve listened to you and Erin every morning til Mike took over with Erin. I’ve listened to you on the drive home everyday and you have always, always put a smile on my face. I’ve loved your voice and your laughter and I will truly miss that, Tish is good, but she’s not you. I miss you taking me home but I wish you all the best in your new adventure. God Bless You Bob and keep smiling, hope to see you on the coat drive you do every year
- DonnaDonna – DKNY
You were right to go.
CHFI listeners must be the most idiotic lot to have ever turned on a radio (or have someone turn it on for them).
You probably got canned with the Jackfm crew.
Cheers – you’re better off
- f.packerHi Bob,
I remember listening to you during your days at 1050 CHUM and of course at CHFI. Best of luck with your business and watch out for those mosquitos.
