BONO DENIES BEING RICHEST ROCK STAR

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012

As Facebook shares went on public sale last week a lot of people stood to make a tidy sum, including Bono of U2. Bono’s  investment company “Elevation Partners” bought a 2.3  share of Facebook  for 90 million in 2009. That share has now  grown to 1.5 billion,  jumping Bono to the top of the “World’s Richest Rock Stars” list , but he disputes the title.  “In Elevation, we invest other people’s money — endowments, pension funds,” he explains. “We do get paid of course. But you know, I felt rich when I was 20 years old and my wife was paying my bills. Just being in a band, I’ve always felt blessed.”

This sounds familiar: Aerosmith will perform on the season finale of “American Idol”. We heard the same announcement last year, from the lips of Idol judge and Aerosmith front-man Steven Tyler.  He said it was a done deal, but the band never performed. We were told there were schedule conflicts with some members and Joe Perry made it clear that he thought the show was a waste of time . He went so far as to say ” I don’t want Aerosmith’s name involved with it”.

Something has obviously changed. Tyler and Perry seem to be getting along, the tour is about to start and the new album is in it’s mixing stage.  And  it was Joe Perry himself who just confirmed that the  group will appear on Idol’s  May 23rd season finale to perform their new single “Legendary Child,” which will be on their upcoming  album as well as  the ” G.I. Joe: Retaliation”  soundtrack.
