TV Producer, Host of “American Bandstand” and the man behind The New Year’s Rockin’ Eve specials, Dick Clark has died. He hosted “American Bandstand” from 1957-1987, bringing many soon-to-become-famous acts to a wider audience. His Dick Clark Productions company started many popular shows like “$25,000 Pyramid”, “TV’s Bloopers and Practical Jokes” and the “American Music Awards”. After suffering a stroke in 2004 he cut back on public appearances but came back to co-host “Dick Clark’s New Years Rockin’ Eve” with Ryan Seacrest.
According to a spokesperson, Clark had been in hospital Tuesday for an “outpatient procedure” and died of a heart attack Wednesday morning (April 18) at the age of 82.
