If you’re going to take in Bon Jovi tonight at Scotiabank Place, they will be without guitarist Richie Sambora, who has checked into rehab. The band announced they will continue the tour without Sambora, and that they have replaced him with Phil X, guitar player for Powder and The Drills. Phil X (real name Phil Xenidis) is best known as the guitar player who replaced Rik Emmett when Emmett left Triumph to pursue a solo career.
Bon Jovi played the New Orleans Jazz Festival on Saturday with Phil X, making no mention of Sambora’s absence until near the end of the set, when they launched into “Livin’ On A Prayer”, and Jon Bon Jovi told the crowd “I’m sending this out to our brother Richie”.
