I Love coffee.   I love the smell, the taste, everything about it…and I’ll never give it up.   I found this study that shows roasting coffee beans creates stable antioxidants…which are believed to help protect our cells from damage and premature aging.  (and who doesn’t want to stop premature aging) The study does say you should go for the medium rather than the dark roast if you want the maximum dose of antioxidants because the compounds break down the more their roasted at high heat.

so…to all my fellow coffee lovers…I raise my mug of medium roast Java and salute you.

Are you a pen chewer..I use to be until one day a person borrowed my chewed pen and put it in their mouth. When they gave it back to me I threw it away and never put another pen in my mouth again.  Every year about 100-people choke to death on their ball point pen lid.

Tomorrow…Thursday January 29Th is Family Literacy Day.  The libraries here in Lethbridge have all kinds of fun activities planned to help promote reading.  Educators will tell you to take some time each day and read with your kids.   Read a book, Read a magazine…a comic strip…anything works.   There’s nothing like wrapping yourself up in the story of a good book.

Every year, our friends invite us over to their house for a Superbowl party.  I must admit…I’m not much of a football fan.  This year…Green Bay will Play Pittsburgh.   The cheese heads against the terrible towels.  To me…the Superbowl is about food, commericals and the half time show…Can’t wait to see the the Black Eyed Peas.   Budweiser has already started teasing its Superbowl ads with 15-second clips.

So…a prediction…I thinkg Green Bay will win…How can you not cheer for someone who wears cheese on their heads?

6.  breakups…you might say someone you’ll regret later

4.  tragic situations…don’t bring everyone down with sad situations

3.  daily schedule…cause nobody cares when your going to the gym or where your eating…except maybe for the burgler who now knows your house is empty.

2.  bodily functions….nobody cares that you ate a burrito and spent half the night on the toilet….really we don’t care!!!

1.   level of Drunkenness…nobody cares how drunk you got and what you did…really we don’t care and don’t want to know!!!

A survey by Cosmo magazine says a sense of humor is the top thing women look for in a man.   Shared values was the 2nd most important trait followed by looks and money.

Poor Personal hygiene was the biggest turn-off followed by man breasts, beer bellies and hairy backs.  With the Economy the way it is you’d think we’d be looking for someone who would be able to buy us shoes and purses!

I must admit….I’m a little surprised that money or financial  stability didn’t make the top of the list. I Mean with the economy the way it is…wouldn’t it be nice to have a man that can afford to buy you shoes and purses!

Every once in a while…when the pot gets really big…a bunch of us here at The RIVER will get together and buy lottery tickets.  So far…we haven’t won anything.  Maybe that’s a good thing!  You may have heard 19 Telus workers in Toronto claimed the 50-million lotto max a couple of weeks ago…but before the check was issued a group of their co-workers said they should be in on the winnings to.  The lottery corporation says they have an official  form you can download when buying tickets in a group that will keep this from happening.  My suggestion…If you’re in on a group poll get the official form and fill it out!!!

One of the things my family loves to do on Christmas Eve is track Santa.    We all gather around the computer…log on to NORAD and watch as Santa gets closer and closer.  Apparently we weren’t the only ones.  NORAD announced today that over 15-million people logged on to follow Santa on his journey.   The comand centre and its volunteers answered more than 80-thousand phone calls and 7-thousand e-mails that night.  Big thanks to everyone at NORAD for the service.   We can’t wait until next year.

I don’t have a pet…Never have…Growing up my mom didn’t want the mess and now we’re just too busy to take care of a pet the way it deserves….But if I did…my dog’s name would be Oregano and my cats name would be Chili (as in pepper)
