“The best thing about sending your kids to summer camp is that you can finally go to the bathroom without being interrupted.
July 6th, 2011 by Cathy
Schools been out for a week. Have you heard the dreaded words yet…I’m board!!! Well I have. My daughter decided she didn’t want to do any camps or classes this summer…just take it easy and hang out. What a mistake thats turned out to be. While her friends are on holidays and busy with activities….she’s at home…hanging out…expecting me to entertain her. OMG its going to be a long summer. Still not to late to sign YOUR kids up for camps at the YWCA, U-of-L, Bowman Arts Centre etc…The city’s website lethbridge.ca has some great suggestions. When does school start?

Animals at your wedding!
June 21st, 2011 by Cathy
Some friends of mine got married over the weekend. It was a Beautiful wedding. Tracey the bride looked gorgeous and Greg the Groom was very handsome. In my mind a traditional church wedding and reception.
The new wedding trend is to include you pets in the ceremony. YES your pets. Wedding planners and other businesses are now offering products and services geared towards helping pets full-fill an increasing role in wedding ceremonies.
Its true…Mostly dogs, but also cats, pot belly pigs, and bird are assuming the role of ring bearer, flower girl or simple a member of the wedding party. some brides and grooms actually send their pet to obedience school and hire trainers to make sure they get the job done.
the only animals at Tracey and Greg’s wedding….were the guests at the reception!!! (just kidding)

what do you and your spouse argue about?
June 16th, 2011 by Cathy
So…a new study says the average couple bickers just over 25-hundred times a year. The number one thing we fight about is not listening. (you just never listen to me and what I need!!!!) Then its money and laziness around the house. We also fight about things like who gets to watch more of their TV programs, snoring and what to eat for supper.
Almost twice a week the average couple will fight about what to eat. Its funny because almost every day I ask both my husband and my daughter what they’d like for supper and I get…”I don’t know…or I don’t care” Too bad they don’t package those at the grocery store!!!!!!

how many purses do you own?
June 13th, 2011 by Cathy
A recent survey shows the average woman owns seven handbags and spends about 120-dollars on each. 20-percent of us use them to hide behind when we’re not feeling confident and 16-percent says their handbag is their security blanket. 21-percent of women polled say getting a compliment about their purse is the ultimate flattery.
I love purses. I probably have about 8 or 9. But I try not to spend more than 75-dollars on a bag. and yes…I have on occasion hid behind my bag on one those ‘fat days’
how about you???

Bad dancing
May 31st, 2011 by Cathy
I LOVE TO DANCE…but I don’t do it very often because my hubby doesn’t like to because he isn’t very good. Are you a bad dancer? Do you know someone with two left feet? Well…Researchers in Montreal found that bad dancers have a mild brain disorder that’s called ‘beat deafness’. They can clap and keep beat with others (like at a concert) but can’t find the beat when their alone. Not surprisingly More men than women suffer from this disorder. So its not your husbands fault that he steps on your toes during the two step…he was born that way.
trying to live healthier
March 14th, 2011 by Cathy
I think we’re all trying to live healthier. Get more exercise…watch what we eat and all the rest. If you’re like me…the long winter gave you lots of excuses to be lazy and eat bad. For many getting healthy has become a family affair. Here’s a great website to help you and your kids…it not only deals with eating and exercising it also has information on topics like bullying, immunization and toy safety. http://healthycanadians.gc.ca/kids/?utm_content=12589-cpc_witness_en&utm_campaign=1750-adv_0328_10_chil&utm_source=51308-rogers_chatelain&utm_medium=Banner&utm_term=3920-ron
Tips for cooking with kids
March 1st, 2011 by Cathy
The Food Network is always on at our house and I think because of that my 11-year old loves to cook. She loves to pretend that she’s got her own show and she makes all kinds of things from pasta to salads to chicken fingers. Sometimes she follows a recipe but many times she likes to just put things together and see how they turn out. I can say with honesty…that we sometimes eat stuff that is kinda yucky. I try to never discourage her from using her imagination.
here’s some tips on what kids can do at certain ages

Best part of the Oscars….The clothes
February 28th, 2011 by Cathy
I Love watching the Academy Awards….Its always amazing to me what these beautiful celebrities decide to wear. I though Natalie Portman was absolutely gorgeous in that purple dress. Also making my best dressed list Mila Kunis, Amy Adams, Sandra Bullock and Scarlett Johanssen. Worst dressed was Nicole Kidman, Annette Benning and Michelle Williams. Michelle…who was nominated in the best actress category…looked like she was auditioning for Casper the Ghost.
check out all the fashions for yourself and see if you agree with me.
