Zumba Update

Tuesday, February 28th, 2012

I’ve been taking Zumba classes at Heartbreaker’s Dance and Fitness downtown for over a year now. There isn’t a better way to work out! It is so much fun. When people ask me what “zumba” is I tell them that it is a latin-inspired fitness dance class. Then, I found this video. Check it out–we actually do this exact routine at our class

And here’s a picture that one of the instructors at Heartbreaker’s took from last week’s class. It’s a bit blurry, but it shows how much fun we’re having :)

Jonas Rocks The Hat

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2012

There’s nothing better than experiencing a rock show in a sold out venue—that’s what I was able to do on Saturday night when Jonas & the Massive Attraction played Whiskey Creek here in Medicine Hat. Over 150 people piled into the venue to check out the rock show. Jonas made a special stop in the Gas City on their way through to Calgary to open up for Deep Purple.

Here are some of the pics I took at the show (you can check out the rest on the Rock 105.3 Facebook page)

And here’s one from earlier in the day when Corey and Jonas stopped by the studio

Here’s a video of the guys performing an acoustic version of Big Slice

If you missed the show, no worries–the band promised they would be back soon! They’re working on a new album that will be out in the fall. If you’re looking for some new material check out their Unplugged CD! I can’t stop listening to it.

Remembering the ’90′s

Wednesday, February 15th, 2012

It was really cool being able to see the frontman of Live Ed Kowalczyk here in the Gas City this week. Live was one of my favorite bands when I was in high school. I remember going to Volleyball tournaments and one the bus we would listen to Live over and over and over again. Especially the track “Lightning Crashes.” When Ed performed that track during the concert at the Esplanade I had some major goosebumps.

Check out the video I took:

I also took a short video of Ed singing “The Dolphin’s Cry”

Overall, it was a great show! If you want to see pictures check out our facebook page!

Foo Fighters Win Big at the Grammys

Monday, February 13th, 2012

It was a huge night for the Foo Fighters at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards. The band took home 5 trophies in total including Best Rock Album for Wasting Light, Best Rock Song for Walk, Best Hard Rock Performance for White Limo, Best Rock Performance for Walk and Best Long Form Music Video for Back and Forth.

Did you catch their performance of “Walk” during last night’s show?? It was awesome!

Dave Grohl had an awesome speech when the band accepted the award for Best Rock Performance

Thank you very much, everybody. Thank you for this. This is a great honor. Because this record was a special record for our band. Rather than, rather than go to the best studio in the world down the street in Hollywood and rather than use all the fanciest computers that you can buy, we made this one in my garage with some microphones and a tape machine. To me, this award means a lot because it, it shows that the human element of making music is what’s most important. Singing into a microphone and learn to play an instrument and learning to do your craft, that’s the most important thing for people to do. It’s not about being perfect. It’s not about sounding absolutely correct. It’s not about what goes on in a computer. It’s about what goes on in here and it’s about what goes on in here.

Then, they announced that Andrew Garfield was playing Spiderman and Emma Stone was playing Gwen Stacy and IĀ got . After checking out this new trailer for the movie I can say now that I’m excited to see “The Amazing Spiderman”
