Ahhh Labour Day Weekend
September 3rd, 2010 by Cassie
Happy Friday everyone! It’s Friday and it’s a long weekend so I’m going to keep this blog entry pretty simple.
First off here’s a recap of what’s happening with this week’s CFL Showdown. We’re calling it the Labour Day Lackey. The Saskatchewan Roughriders host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Sunday and whoever loses (Poncho or me) will have to basically be a slave for a day. Kinda fitting for a “Labour Day” game huh? I’ve been on a CFL Showdown winning streak…Poncho has YET to win! I hope the winning streak continues

Nala’s 1st Haircut
September 2nd, 2010 by Cassie
My puppy Nala is already 5 months old and her hair was getting super long so it was time for her to have her 1st grooming appointment. I was worried because Nala is a really hyper dog and she barely ever sits still. I felt sorry for the poor groomer! Anyway…..here’s what she looked like pre-cut:
And….here she is after!
She’s such a little fluffball! I won’t lie, I miss her long hair a little bit. She had mini-dreads beforehand, but now at least she can see! I love her little bandana and the bows too! Thanks to everyone at Muttley Crew for doing an amazing job ![]()
You Win Some, You Lose Some
August 30th, 2010 by Cassie
Today was the first day Poncho had to bring me breakfast after losing last week’s CFL Showdown. I was expecting a granola bar (which I did get) but instead I got this:
Oatmeal, cranberries to put in the oatmeal, an apple, toast (with cheese to put on top) and a granola bar. Pretty good for day one I would say! I was quite impressed with Poncho’s breakfast. I’m pretty sure the Lawdy Mama helped him though…I’m okay with that…it was delicious!
Today was also the first day I had to wear an Eskimos jersey to work. I lost my bet with Ian after the Riders lost 17-14 to the Eskimos. Damn! Oh well, you win some you lose some right?
Terrorist Suspect on Canadian Idol
August 27th, 2010 by Cassie
3 Ontario residents have been charged in what police allege was an internationally-linked terror ring–and one of them was on Canadian Idol back in 2008.
Check out his audition here:
Khuram Sher is one of the men accused of possessing plans and materials to create makeshift bombs. They are alleged to have discussed attacks on specific government buildings and city public transit systems.
Yet ANOTHER Win!
August 26th, 2010 by Cassie
THANK YOU RIDER FANS!!! Because of all the awesome Rock 105.3 listeners I won another CFL Showdown. Of course, we were collecting school supply donations for the Tools for Schools program into either a Rider bin or an Anti-Rider bin. Well, as it turned out the Rider fans kicked butt and as Bill from Southland Volkswagen put it “it wasn’t even close.” Now, Poncho has to buy me breakfast for a week! We’ll have another CFL Showdown bet next Thursday as the Riders gear up to face the Blue Bombers in the Labour Day Classic!

Tools for School Update
August 23rd, 2010 by Cassie
So we are a few days into our latest CFL Showdown and it’s looking pretty close! Of course Poncho and I are collecting school supply donations at Southland Volkswagen for the Tools for Schools program. Whoever’s bin has the most donations in it (Rider bin vs Anti-Rider bin) will win the bet! The loser has to buy the winner breakfast for the week….oh and the loser doesn’t get to eat breakfast!
Here’s a look at how many supplies have been dropped off so far…
That is amazing! The guys down at Southland Volkswagen say that as of Monday Poncho and I are tied. Rider fans I NEED YOUR HELP! I want to keep my CFL Showdown winning streak alive. Please head down to Southland Volkswagen to drop off some school supplies to help me out
We’ll announce the winner of the bet on Thursday.
CFL Showdown Week 8
August 19th, 2010 by Cassie
Okay– we’re doing a twist on this week’s CFL Showdown because the Riders are on their bye week. Here’s how it is going to work. We need YOU Rock 105.3 listeners to help Poncho and I out. Head on down to Southland Volkswagen (on 13th & Strachan) with some school supplies for the Tools for Schools Program. There will be two bins there—a RIDER bin and an ANTI-RIDER bin. Put your school supply donation in the corresponding bin to help either Poncho or I win this week’s bet!! Whoever has the most school supplies by the end of next Thursday (August 26th) wins the CFL Showdown! The loser has to buy the winner breakfast for a week–and the loser doesn’t get any breakfast to enjoy!
For all the info on the Tools for Schools Program check out this website: http://www.utdway.ca/Tools-for-School-Program.php
PLEASE Rider fans I need your help! I don’t want my winning streak to end! Make sure to stop by Southland Volkswagon with your donation ![]()

Bruce Springsteen Documentary
August 16th, 2010 by Cassie
More detail are coming out about Bruce Springsteen’s upcoming documentary. Springsteen will be re-issuing his 1978 album Darkness on the Edge of Town this fall. Not only that, a documentary about the making of the album that will premier on HBO in October called “The Promise.” The documentary will have rare vintage studio footage, original studio recordings, and extensive new interviews with, among others, the Boss himself, Patti Smith (who co-wrote “Because the Night”), and members of the E Street Band, including the late organist Danny Federici. The film will air on HBO in October.
