The middle group of players practicing Wednesday morning is set up to be the lineup that will take to the ice Thursday night against the Islanders…and it looks like Theo Fleury will indeed suit up.
Here’s what the lines are today:
Backlund – Jokinen – Iginla
Dawes – Langkow – Fleury
Sutter – Conroy – Sjostrom
Stuart – Jaffray – Van Der Gulik
Regehr – Bouwmeester
Giordano – Phaneuf
Sarich – Aulie
Kiprusoff
Shantz
Fleury, to me, looks to have a long way to go but game action will ultimately tell us how close he might be. He is determined, there is no doubt. He went after Phaneuf in front of the crease during one of the drills today so clearly that side of his game hasn’t gone away.
Obviously this lineup is much stronger than the one iced Tuesday versus Edmonton. It will also be your first opportunity to see Jay Bouwmeester and Freddy Sjostrom in Flames colors and Keith Aulie will make his NHL preseason debut. I can’t help but wonder if Kiprusoff will go the distance in this one.
Also, 4 junior aged players were re-assigned today. Mitch Wahl, Lance Bouma, TJ Brodie and Greg Nemisz have been sent to their respective junior teams. That leaves 52 players in camp including John Armstrong who is not listed on the current roster of players. Armstrong has been injured much of training camp and is likely to be assigned to Abbotsford once he is deemed healthy.

THEO! THEO! THEO! THEO! THEO! THEO! THEO! THEO! THEO! THEO! THEO! THEO! THEO! THEO! THEO! THEO! THEO! THEO!
I’m seriously just excited to see Theo on Flames ice again. I don’t care if he makes the team or not.
- GabeAwesome, I’m so excited for tomorrow! If it’s the last time we see #14 suit up for the Flames, it will still be special. It’s closure, and that’s what was missing from Theo’s career previously.
