I was at my friend Tim’s house recently, and became addicted to Guitar Hero & Rock Band. While we were ‘rockin’ out’, Tim said they should have a country version of this.

Well Tim, your prayers have been answered! This week marks the release of what might be called the “country star starter kit” (groupies not included). The popular Rock Band video game franchise has introduced their Country Track Pack for Xbox 360, PlayStation 2 and 3, and Wii gaming systems. It’s the first Rock Band game focused exclusively on country music, and features 21 tracks from Shania and Brad Paisley, plus Kenny Chesney, Willie Nelson, Alan Jackson, Jason Aldean and Kenny Rogers, among others.

Thanks again to Aaron Pritchett for calling yesterday. As you heard, his house is in the middle of the Kelowna wildfires where a number of homes have already been lost. What you didn’t hear was that a number of homes were being looted!!!! Aaron told me this off air, and I’ll tell you, anyone who takes advantage of a serious situation like this DESERVES to be shot! Things may be more serious than they seem…Nick Jonas has reportedly given Miley Cyrus a commitment ring!

Nick’s big bro Kevin just became engaged to longtime girlfriend Danielle Deleasa.

If the title is any indication, Jack Ingram has lofty expectations for his eighth studio CD.

“I’m proud of this album like crazy,” Jack says of ‘Big Dreams and High Hopes,’ due for release on August 25. “We started to put it out a few times earlier this year, but then I’d hold everything up and go back to the studio and tweak this or mess with that, but now I’m finally ready. There are a few rowdy barroom sing-a-longs on there and also a few songs that are meant to be listened to when you’re all alone … lots of long days and fun nights were spent making this one.”

In addition to promoting his upcoming album on August 25, Jack will also attempt to break a Guinness Book of World record that day for ‘Most Consecutive Radio Interviews in a 24-hour Period.’ The record is currently held by Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz.

The final 28 nominees for the New7Wonders of Nature were announced today. The public will now be able to vote via the web, text message or phone on the final seven. Some I agree with, like the Grand Canyon, The Great Barrier Reef, that big rock thingy in Australia, but some not so much. There are spots in Newfoundland that are alot more picturesque than Komodo, Indonesia, plus there are no animals looking to eat you on the Rock! (Komodo is home to the Komodo Dragon).

Canada is represented though with the nomination of the Bay of Fundy & Hopewell Rocks, New Brunswick.

OK, congrats to the organizers of Rogers Bayfest in Sarnia. Once again an amazing time was had by all, and I’ll be posting pictures as I get them, video too! Jason Blaine, Doc Walker, Deric Ruttan, & Brad Paisley were as good as I’ve ever seen them, if not better.

I know, I forgot Tim McGraw. I’ve seen Tim 3 times now, and it was back in the mid 90′s I saw him for the first time and was blown away.  He was entertaining, big time! Now? Maybe it’s the outdoors, but the Tim I saw last weekend, and 2 summers ago is nowhere near the one that made me a fan in 1996. He kind of just……sang! Well, that’s what he does but how about having fun with the band? Joke with audience? Have some fun with the video screens? In a nutshell, tear a page out of the Brad Paisley playbook.

Alan Jackson & George Strait made a career out of what Tim did Friday night, and Tim is right up there with those guys. However, AJ & George were ‘just’ standing there and singing right from the start, so you knew what you were going to get when you went to see them in concert.

I saw Tim at his BEST once. I’m just disappointed that the 20,000 plus in Sarnia never seen what I saw then.

For the record, I’m not dumping on Tim McGraw. He’s a great guy and I’m still a fan, but while he’s great, he can be better!

Martina and Kid Rock surprised more than a few of their respective fans last month when they took the stage at the CMA Music Festival, performing Kid’s hit ballad, ‘Picture.’ They could be teaming up again. The rap/rock/country star recently told the Detroit Free Press that he has a song called ‘Care’ which he wants Martina – or R&B singer Mary J. Blige to sing with him. The album is due next summer and we’ll keep you posted when we find out which vocalist ultimately gets the call.

I kind of thought we’d be more like the Jetsons by now, you know, with flying cars and such. Based on what I’ve seen lately, we’re still more like the Flintstones, with shoes.

I don’t care for award shows, because usually, deserving people don’t win. With that being said, it’s Emmy Award nomination day, & it’s the first time an animated series has been nominated for Best Comedy in 48 years — since “The Flintstones” was nominated back in 1961. And get this, it’s not ‘The Simpsons’!?!?! No, ‘Family Guy’ is up for the hardware. Now, while I think FG is hilarious,  how can a show that’s been hailed by both critics and audiences as a true pop-culture phenomenon for 20 years, not get nominated……EVER! Somebody dropped a very large ball!

These women are appealing a court decision that prevents them from competing in the 2010 Winter Olympics, and I believe they have a legitimate beef.  Men ski jumpers are participating but the door is closed for female jumpers!?!

A B.C. Supreme Court Justice ruled last week the International Olympic Committee is discriminating against women ski jumpers by keeping them out of the Games. But the judge said the court does not have the power to order the sport be included on the program when the Olympics begin in February.

The group of 15 former and current female ski jumpers went to court in April to argue their exclusion from the Vancouver Games violated the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

The women wanted a court declaration that the Vancouver organizing committee, known as VANOC, must either hold women’s ski jumping in 2010 or cancel all ski jumping events.

Peeps at the DMV in Santa Monica say Paris paid a visit yesterday and got a new pic … after posing for 5 of them!!!!!!!

I also hear Hilton’s assistant called ahead and asked the staff for a little special treatment so the woman famous for doing nothing wouldn’t have to waitin a long line. They accommodated the request. Why? SHould’ve made her wait in line just like everyone else.

Oh, and employees were told to turn their cell phones off so no one would take a pic of Hilton getting her picture taken.

It seems Keith surprised Dierks and Jason by asking them to join him on stage for a collaboration on the Eagles’ hit, ‘Take It to the Limit.’ The problem: Keith’s tourmates didn’t quite know all of the lyrics. Thankfully, they had a few minutes to rectify their situation, so Dierks wrote the lyrics on his forearm and Jason taped some printed lyrics to his mic stand. OK, I’ve done this and will think twice before doing it again. A German who tried to fix his leaky air mattress blew up his apartment instead. The 45-year-old man used tire repair solvent to plug a hole in his airbed and left it overnight. But it blew up when he went to inflate it the next day. “A spark from the electric air pump ignited it,” a fire brigade spokesman said.

The blast pushed his living room wall into the building’s stairwell and caused extensive damage to walls, windows and furniture.

Fire fighters evacuated the 12-apartment building and a neighboring housing block while they checked for structural damage.

The man suffered burns on his arms, while a three-year-old girl suffered first degree burns.

So you want to go and see the new Harry Potter movie, but being from a religious family you feel it’s not appropriate. Well get this, the Roman Catholic Church has praised the latest installment of the Harry Potter franchise – for highlighting the “sacrifice” needed for good to triumph over evil. The Vatican’s own newspaper (L’Osservatore Romano) has lauded Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, insisting it is the best adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s hugely successful books so far. And it even insisted the teenage love scenes – with the main characters all kissing in the film – achieved the “correct balance” in creating a credible story for the audience.  So in other words, the Pope loved it!!!!

Carrie Underwood, Rodney Atkins, Darius Rucker and John Rich are among those performing at Fort Campbell, Ky., for two Salute to the Troops concerts for soldiers and families of the 101st Airborne Division. The performances are part of an event billed as Week of the Eagles to celebrate the return of the 101st Airborne’s Screaming Eagles from service in the Middle East. Underwood, Rich and Jake Owen will perform on Aug. 14. The Aug. 15 show features Atkins, Rucker and Jypsi. Underwood’s performance at Fort Campbell is one of only a few concerts she has scheduled this summer. Her new album will be released later this year. The Salute to the Troops activities are free and open to the public, but all visitors to the military installation will be required to present a valid photo ID and show current registration and proof of insurance for any vehicle admitted.  Program your GPS, or get those road maps out!

So I’m walking through Zellers over the weekend, and took a stroll through electronics and saw the CD displays.  I have never had a problem paying $10.99 for a CD, ever! Heck, $14.99 is good if the disc has 3 or more songs that I like on it. However, why is somebody being asked to fork over $20.99 for a single CD? The artist will remain nameless, but paying that much coin is a big part of why folks are turning to illegally downloading music. That singer wouldn’t lose any sleep if you hit Limewire, but over a hundred others artists would. Once the door is open to free music, who’s going to want to close it?

It’s time to lower those CD prices people!

‘Jessica Simpson was dumped the day before her birthday. The pop turned country singer is said to be “heartbroken” over the end of her almost two-year relationship with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. The two reportedly broke up Thursday, the day before Jessica’s 29th birthday.’

If the stars are aligned as such, wouldn’t it be funny if the Hilton empire crashed and Paris had to get a real job?……..waiting……..waiting…….

OK, I respect doctors alot! They spend alot of time learning what they know, and you’re thankful for that when you need them. But this gets my boxers in a bunch….

Air Canada has been ordered to pay a Montreal doctor $1,000 in compensation for having to perform medical duties during an international flight in 2006.

That is less than the $3,058 initially sought by Dr. Henry Coopersmith, which he calculated as the equivalent of an executive-class fare, the value of medical services rendered and compensation for a day of vacation lost.

A judge in small claims court determined Coopersmith deserved a fee for services and compensation for the inconvenience, but that rewarding the full value of a flight would be exaggerated.

Coopersmith and his wife were on a Montreal-Paris flight on Oct. 11, 2006, when cabin crew implored him to help a woman who was suffering from an anxiety attack.

Coopersmith also had to fill out numerous forms and claimed he did not get any sleep during the transatlantic flight.

The Montreal physician has said he wanted airlines to be held accountable for doctors who provide emergency services during a flight.

You know, people should become doctors because they WANT to help people!
