KISS CLUB

ENTERTAINMENT EXPRESS for JUNE 6

X-Men: First Class was a sure-fire Hangover cure this weekend – taking the #1 box office spot from last week’s winner, Hangover Part 2, which moved to…#2! Kung Fu Panda 2 moved down to #3, and Johnny Depp kept the Pirates of the Caribbean ship afloat in fourth place. All the movies are playing at Cinema 6 tonight.

And it was a night to honour the best movies of the past year last night, at the MTV Movie Awards. Or, at least the best movies MTV viewers had seen, which seemed to pretty much be the Twilight saga. It took Best Movie, Female & Male Performance, Best Fight and Best Kiss. Reese Witherspoon was honoured with the “Generation Award,” aka the Old People Trophy.

And though Comedy Central plans to celebrity-roast Kid Rock this summer, the singer says, he doesn’t plan to show up. He already knows all the mistakes he’s made, and doesn’t need to travel to LA to hear a bunch of comedians make fun of him.

ENTERTAINMENT EXPRESS for JUNE 3

Shania Twain accepted her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame yesterday, and had another important bit of news for us – her first new music in six years! The new single, “Today is Your Day,” will premiere on the June 12th finale of her show on the OWN network, and available for purchase on iTunes immediately following.

We know what the Academy thought the best movies were of the past year – now we’ll find out what teenagers think. Will wizards, vampires or dream thieves steal the 2011 MTV Movie Awards? We’ll find out this Sunday.

And with the lustre of Thor’s hammer fading, it’s time for another superhero movie at Cinema 6. X Men: First Class chronicles the super-group’s formation, and the initial split between Professor Xavier and arch-enemy Magneto. The film will take on last week’s boc-office juggernaut The Hangover Part 2.

ENTERTAINMENT EXPRESS for JUNE 2

Not even a week in theatres, and already the Wolfpack could be back for another walk of shame. The Hangover 3 is reportedly already in the works, and why not – Hangover 2 pulled in more that $200 million in its opening weekend. Director Todd Phillips recently hinted that he already has an idea for the plot of another film.

The Octo-mom’s story continues – this time, it’s her doctor being charged with bad judgement, for his decision to implant Nadya Suleman with so many embryos. He’s lost his license to practice medicine, and he’s a public disgrace, so that probably means he’s got a reality show coming. Just wait.

And the two raspiest voices from this season of American Idol are pairing up! Casey Abrams and Haley Reinhart, who are both in the Idol Top Ten Summer Tour – and were rumored to be more than friends – have decided to venture forward together. Musically, of course.

ENTERTAINMENT EXPRESS for JUNE 1st

Many fans would call it a McNightmare – Patrick Dempsey says the next season of Grey’s Anatomy could be his last. Not only would losing the doc be sad enough, you know they’ll probably send the guy off in some awful tragic fashion that would scar viewers for life. The best hope is, with Dempsey leaving, the show itself might come to a close, so they won’t be McDreamy-less. Eight seasons is still a good run!

Expect a busier-than usual Wednesday at Nikki’s Sports Gallery – game one of the Stanley Cup finals kicks off at 8 o’clock. Vancouver looks to put one away against Boston on home ice.

And get ready for a possible new exhibit, or least some photos, at the Shania Twain Centre – our hometown star is accepting a star of her own tomorrow – on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!

Who would have thought moving the cast of Jersey Shore to a classy place like Venice, Italy, would result in mayhem? Oh right, everybody! If you had an office pool going on who would be the first to publicly embarrass themselves, people who picked Snooki- you’ve just earned your five bucks. She was arrested yesterday for driving into the back of a police car, and sending two officers to the hospital. A breathalyzer test showed she wasn’t intoxicated. I guess she’s not used to driving sober!

It’s wallet friendly-movie night at Timmins Cincema 6. The number one movie in North America was the Hangover Part 2, you can put your ticket money in to boost their already-high take of $105 million in North America. ENTERTAINMENT EXPRESS for MAY 27th

Shania Twain is getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next week! Considering  her 1997 album  Come On Over was the biggest selling album by a female musician of all time, as well as being the No. 1 selling country album ever, she certainly deserves the honour. Maybe she can swipe it later and send it up here to the Shania Twain Centre.

American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert is working on what he calls his “dream album.” He says he’s written most of it himself, spending the last two months in the studio. No word on a release date yet.

Casting continues for the upcoming remake of Total Recall. Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel have both been confirmed, alongside Colin Farrell in the lead role, and Bryan Cranston as the villain.

And two new movies are at Timmins Cinema 6. The Hangover Part 2 opened last night, and another sequel is released today. Fortunately, it’s a bit more friendly for the kids. Jack Black returns as the voice of the Po inKung Fu Panda 2.

ENTERTAINMENT EXPRESS for MAY 26

No matter who won,  American Idol was going to be a little bit country. Scotty and Lauren took that stage at the end of a 2-hour spectacle last night, featuring performances from past Idol contestants, as well as Lady Gaga, Beyonce, J-Lo, Steven Tyler and Jack Black. In the end, there could only be one…and Scotty took the prize! Not to be outdone, Lauren started some chatter of her own by planting a few kisses on him. And the rumors ensue…

An elimination is on the way in the NHL playoffs, in case you were wondering why everyone’s at home glued to the TV tomorrow night. Boston and Tampa Bay hash out the last game of their series, to decide who goes on to defeat Vancouver in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

There’s an early movie release today at Timmins Cinema 6. The memories of the first might be a bit hazy even to the main characters, but Ed Helms, Bradley Cooper and Zach Galafinakis are back in The Hangover part 2, which finds the trio waking up in Thailand after another night of debauchery.
