Peavy’s Return On The Horizon

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

After turning down some deals and remaining with the lowly Padres, it seemed that Jake Peavy would not pitch again this year, deciding to rest his banged up ankle.

But then, White Sox GM Kenny Williams dialed up the Padres on the non-waiver trade deadline day, asked the Padres if they were still willing to deal Peavy and here we are, a few days away from Peavy possibly making his White Sox debut.

Here’s the story:,0,884357.story

I’d highly recommend not starting Peavy right away, obviously because he hasn’t pitched in quite some time. But monitor his upcoming start and begin thinking about penciling Peavy into your starting rotation if you’re still fighting for a playoff spot.

Erik Bedard Likely Done For The Season

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

No real surprise here, as Bedard is about as injury prone as Jason Schimdt, Vladimir Guerrero and Ian Kinsler.

Here’s the story:

Unless you’re in a deep keeper league, it’s safe to cut Bedard from your fantasy roster.

I can hear laughter from afar. Who’s that? Yup, it’s the Baltimore Orioles organization, chuckling at there steal of sending Bedard to Seattle for Adam Jones, George Sherrill and Chris Tillman.
