What do you do if you were one of the original artists on We Are The World 25 years ago, but you weren’t invited back for the new recording? Well, if you’re Huey Lewis, you just go ahead and record the song yourself! LOL

We Are The World

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

It’s hard to believe that 25 years has gone by since this song was recorded to raise money for starving children in Africa. Now, after the tragedy in Haiti, the baton has been passed to a new group of artists. This time, all money raised will help the Haitian Relief Efforts. Go to www.itunes.com and purchase the song (and the video!)

Here’s a look at the new video which debuted this past Friday night.

Superbowl Commercials

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Like most of us, I was stuck watching the biggest game of the year on CTV and missed out on the terrific, multi million dollar commercials that air in the U.S.

Thankfully, you can catch them all by clicking here

I haven’t seen them all yet, but my favorite has got to be the promo for The Late Show with David Letterman. The spot was shot last Tuesday afternoon, under the strictest of secrecy which involved both Mr. Leno and Ms. Winfrey both flying to New York, and arriving incognito at the theater, while Mr. Letterman was in the midst of taping his show for that night. It also involved Jay wearing a disguise: hooded sweatshirt, glasses and faux mustache so he would slip by fans unnoticed entering the theatre! Brilliant!

Pass The Salt. On Second Thought……

This is not only the shortest month of the year, it’s also Heart & Stroke Month. The Canadian Stroke Network put out a bulletin this week about high levels of sodium in pre-packaged meals for Toddlers. Some of them contain the same amount of sodium as two medium fries from McDonald’s – that’s A LOT of sodium for a little person. The worst of the bunch? The Gerber Graduates Lil’ Entrees Chicken & Pasta Wheel Pick Ups meal, which contains 550 mg of sodium, which is more than half the amount a toddler should get in a day. Remember, high sodium levels can cause serious problems down the road, including high blood pressure, which is a risk factor for stroke, kidney disease, heart disease and dementia. High salt intake has also been linked to obesity, asthma, stomach cancer and osteoperosis.

Other toddler meals with high sodium levels:

- Parent’s Choice (Walmart brand) My Little Meals Shells & Cheese with Frankfurters — 520 mg per serving

- Gerber Graduates for Toddlers Lil’ Entrees Macaroni and Cheese with peas and carrots — 520 mg per serving

- Heinz Toddler Vegetables, Beef & Pasta Casserole — 470 mg per jar

- Heinz Toddler Beef Stroganoff — 420 mg per jar
