Toy Test
Thursday, November 19th, 2009
I love our Toy Test. Every year we bring in the Clear Kids, and let them test all the hottest toys for the year. This time, we’re taking the event to the food hall at St. Vital Centre next Saturday. By the way, if you would like your child to be a part of the test, just get to www.102clearfm.com, and use your reward points for a chance to join us!
Do you wonder about some of these toys? Just how safe are they? I came across this list of the 10 Most Dangerous Toys on the market this year, according to the World Against Toys Causing Harm (or W.A.T.C.H.) It might be worth a look!

Take the Stairs!
Monday, November 9th, 2009
Do you think more people would take the stairs if it was a little more exciting? They say the average adult should get about 10,000 steps in per day. I’m pretty sure I’d be stepping A LOT more if we could do this

Rihanna Speaks
Friday, November 6th, 2009
This is such a “teachable” moment for our kids. Violence against women is just not acceptable. It’s not right, it’s not cool, and it happens more often than we would like to think. Rihanna talks for the first time about the story the entire world was talking about, what happened to her, and why she doesn’t want it to happen again.
Get the entire Rihanna interview on 20/20 tonight.
So Sad
Thursday, November 5th, 2009
You’ve all probably heard the heartbreaking story of Ashley Neufeld from Brandon. She and 2 of her friends drowned when their vehicle sunk into a farm pond while on a stargazing trip. You can read more about it here.
This story actually made CNN. I only found out this morning that this sort of thing happens to about 40 people every year in Canada – that number is far too high, and this video just might save your life.

Updated H1N1 Priority List
Monday, November 2nd, 2009
Today is the only day this week you’ll be able to get the vaccination shot, and only if you’re on the priority list. The WRHA released a scaled version of the priority list for today (Monday)
- Children aged six months to under five years old;
- Anyone of Aboriginal ancestry (First Nations, Metis or Inuit);
- People under 55 with a severe chronic medical or other risk condition; and

Manitoba will only receive 15,500 doses of the H1N1 flu vaccine this week, a far cry from the expected 72,000 doses from the federal government.
