Bobble-Head
Friday, January 30th, 2009
I think these things are just the coolest! I could sit and watch a bobble-head for hours and not get bored. They’re even more fun to watch when you know the person the bobble’s molded after. Tonight is Mike Keane Bobble-Head night at the Moose game – but you have to get there early as they will only go to the first 5000 fans through the gates.
I know a LOT of Clear Kids would love to have one of these, so you can be a hero to your kids by using your reward points and bid on your very own doll by clicking here. The auction will only be up and running until 8:45 this morning! The member with the highest bid will be able to pick up their doll as early as 9 this morning!
Now THAT’S a Hat!!!!
Friday, January 23rd, 2009
On Wednesday Ellen had some fun with the over-the-top hat similar to the one that Aretha Franklin wore to Barack Obama’s inauguration.
“That would of been so embarrassing. The next thing you know, we would have been in Us Weekly’s ‘Who Wore it Better?’” DeGeneres joked. “They said this is the only one they made! I can’t believe it!”
Even though people won’t likely be lining up for a knock off of the “bow tie” hat, they are very interested in two other fashion items – the gloves that Michelle Obama wore during the swearing in, and the outfits that Malia and Sasha Obama wore that day (see pictures below.) All of the items can be found at J.Crew. In fact, so many people wanted their kids to look like the “first children” that the J. Crew website completely crashed!
I don’t know…..I’m still loving that hat.

You can almost feel it in the air – even way up here! Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th President earlier today in Washinton. There were so many people on hand that they expect the number to dwarf all previous presidential inaugurations, including the 1.2 million who were on hand for Lyndon Johnson’s swearing-in back in 1965!
More people also means greater security. The secret service did it’s final security sweep downtown at 3am, and shortly thereafter special Metro trains and streets were already full of people.
I know this will get a LOT of attention. Did you see the flub during the swearing in?
It looks like Barack messes up, but it was actually a mistake made by the Chief Justice – I suppose he was nervous too as this was his first time in that situation. You could see a big smile on Obama’s face, but you’ve got to wonder if he was a little upset over the mistake?
Oh, and I found this interesting. Obama took the oath of office on a Bible used by his political hero, Abraham Lincoln, at his first inauguration in 1861.

I ½ to admit I feel guilty reporting the weather forecast this week from Jamaica….On day 2 I received an e-mail from one of our VIP Clear Club Members saying… “I’m driving to work listen to you two giggling about being in Jamaica and I’m doing all I can just to keep the windows clear with the defrost on high…Ahhhh that sure put things @ home into perspective. I truly wish you were all here, enjoying the sunshine, food, and wonderful people at Sandals Grand Ocho Rios.
Yesterday we had an exhilarating experience(or I did…I’m scared to death of heights) We experienced Mystic Mountain…where we saw the rainforest from 700 feet above.
Before I jumped on board the Sky Explorer(basically a BIG Gondola) I thought I was going to be sick…my palms were sweaty…my legs stiff, maybe even a little light headed..But once you’re on it, you’re on it. ½ way thru the ride I finally relaxed…until I remembered “what goes up…must come down” ahhhhhhh!!!
We ended up coming down the Mountain on the coolest Bobsled ride(similar to Cool Runnings) and a Canopy Zip Line Tour. The Zip line was probably the scariest…a few obscenities some screams and my two feet were on solid ground again. Phewf!
For someone who can barely climb a step ladder…it was the thrill of a lifetime…
You too can experience the sights and sounds of Sandals Grand Ocho Rios in Jamaica go to 102celarfm.com for more and listen for your name next Wed. morning.

Jamaica Day 3
Thursday, January 15th, 2009
They say if you’ve got a fear, you should tackle it head on. That’s exactly what Billie Jo did yesterday at the Mystic Mountain tour in Ocho Rios. Not only did she manage to not lose her lunch going up the skylift (think ski lift without the snow) but she managed to take the amazing bobsled ride AND the zipline tour over the jungle! The Mystic Mountain attraction is the newest attraction here on the island, and if you ever make your way to Jamaica it’s a MUST DO!!
I’m about to head down the mountain in my Jamaican boblsed!
Above, check out the breathtaking view from the observation tower!

Jamaica Day 2

Yesterday was so much fun! We went out on the Sandal’s very own 65 foot catamaran (above pic) called “The Katt” for a 2 hour (not a 3 hour) tour. Once we got our land legs back, we were invited to the Manor side of the resort for a giant street party complete with food stations set up with amazing world cuisine done Jamaican style (and Sandals style, which is always to die for!!!)
The music was pumping, the dance floor was open, and there was even a snake charmer! Yes, that is a giant slithering snake around our necks
Remember, all of this could be yours tomorrow morning at 7:20 – find out more at www.102clearfm.com and good luck!

So in this day and age, we’re all a little worried about money, and about the economy. There’s a great kit put out by the Manitoba Securities Commission called Make It Count: A Parent’s Guide to Youth Money Management. The kit is all about teaching kids about not just the value of money, but managing it, not spending it before you have it (which has always been my problem.) I think it started when I was a kid – I’d do the chores and help out around the house to earn my allowance, but instead of saving it (or some of it) I’d blow it all on candy!
Kids like money – even some when they’re 3 & 4 years old they like to hold it, and collect it, put it in their pockets. What a great time to introduce a program like this! How many teens do you know with 2 & 3 credit cards? By the time they’re in university, they’re already going down the same road as many parents -too much debt! This kit’s got some neat stuff in it like goal saving sheets you can put on the fridge, youth budgeting sheets – lots of neat tips – and the best part? It’s FREE!!! Get yours by clicking here.
