CSI Winnipeg at Celebrations

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

Met some great people Friday night for the show at Celebrations Dinner Theatre. Best part? The character Horatio Payne (just like Horatio Caine on CSI: MIAMI)

He’s swarmy, cheesy, and a little creepy – just like the tv show. Every time he says one of his patented cheesy lines in the performance, they play the intro stinger of The Who song that starts the show.

Can’t get enough cheese? Check out this Horatio montage:

Butterfly Experience @ Red River Ex

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

I went to the Red River Ex…1st stop mini doughnuts…2nd stop the Butterfly Experience.

I loved it…the butterflies were so BIG and beautiful. Blue ones, dark ones with orange and yellow. It’s amazing!

When I first saw one coming at me out of the corner of my eye I think I screamed and moved out of the way…took me a few seconds to get use to it. They flutter and fly around you and eventually land.

When you Exit the netted area the tent staff check you for hitch-hiking butterflies. You never know when one of them is on your back or in your hair..You can’t take the actual butterflies home with you…but you can buy a little caterpillar in a container that will turn into a Butterfly.

Take the kids and check it out, it’s pretty Cool.

Wow, when you see a pretty photo like this one (taken by a woman in Iowa as she looked out her window) you kinda forget that natural disasters are devastating and destructive. Imagine seeing this coming right at you??!!

Father’s Day

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

Stuck on what to get Dad this year? Why not make him something he will LOVE (I practically guarantee it!)
Cook him dinner – that is, if you can get him to let you touch his grill. :)
Here’s a simple recipe for a really good burger…feel free to add whatever you like to make it your own (I like to chop up some jalepeno peppers to give the burgers a bit of a kick)

Ingredients

* 1 sweet onion, chopped
* 1 green bell pepper, chopped
* 4 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed
* 1 tomato, chopped
* 2 tablespoons steak sauce
* 2 pounds ground beef
* 1/4 cup dry bread crumbs
* salt and pepper to taste

Cooking Instructions

1. Preheat an outdoor grill for high heat and lightly oil grate.
2. In a blender or food processor, gradually place sweet onion. green bell pepper, garlic and tomato. Blend into a thick liquid. Mix steak sauce into the mixture.
3. Pour the blended mixture into a large bowl. Place ground beef into the bowl, and thoroughly mix together. Set aside approximately 15 minutes.
4. Mix again if liquid is present, then gradually introduce dry bread crumbs until the ground beef mixture is firm enough to form hamburger patties. Salt and pepper to taste.
5. Form the ground beef mixture into hamburger patties. Cook on the prepared grill.
6. Serve with lettuce, tomato and cheese on a toasted bun.
7. Enjoy!

Snoring During Savasana

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

Recently I started going to HOT Yoga classes @ Moksha. I love it. Afterwards I feel refreshed…almost like a day at the Spa.

Last night I arrived early for class & laid in Savasana or corpse pose for 10mins. As I was lying flat on my back, palms turned up,feet slightly separated, in total and complete relaxation the women beside me started to snore!!! At first I ignored it…I figured she was deep into the pose…and just really really relaxed. Until her snoring started to rattle louder and louder..waking herself up at times. I wasn’t sure what to do. Do I tap her arm? Whisper in her ear? Or do nothing? I’m a Yoga Rookie. What’s proper educate?

I didn’t want to embarrass her, so I let her sleep. Help! What should I do next time?

IN MOTION

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

Another great Sneaker Day at the U of M yesterday – the team spirit really shines through every year, as the different departments get together, dress up in wild costumes, and get active over the noon hour. Some great theme’s yesterday like the Domino costumes, the Hawaiian outfits – even a mock wedding party!
It’s great to see so many people coming out to get “in motion” and it’s a good reminder to all of us to try to get active as much as we can.

Sneaker’s In Motion Day

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

Hey, here’s a great way for the gang at the U of M to get out of the classrooms and offices and get “in motion.” Today is the 19th annual Sneakers In Motion Day. It’s a fun break for a lot of people, and you should see the amazing costumes some of the departments come up with! I’ve been proud to be a part of this wonderful day for the past few years now, and check out the size of these shoes!
See you later today at the U of M!
