See these new ads from the government? They’re in both newspapers this morning, and I think they’re fantastic.A bunch of kids with cartoon like bubbles coming from their mouths, but the words they’re saying are anything like words you normally see in the funny pages. Instead, the kids are saying the street names (or slang terms) for illegal drugs – and the ad says your kids are “starting to learn a new language, the drug world is targeting your children.”
That’s really scary, because let’s face it, you call something “hippy flip” and you think “hey, that sounds good” – even though that’s the slang for a horrible combination of drugs (hallucinogenic mushrooms mixed with ecstatsy) that can cause some serious damage. So they’re asking what can parents do?
Plenty! Because, believe it or not, most young teens consider their parents to be credible sources of information about illegal drugs. So basically….learn the language before your kids do……there’s a website where you you can order a free booklet that has all sorts of tips on how to talk with your kids about the dangers of drugs…..www.drugprevention.gc.ca

I always say, you’ve got a problem…don’t let the adults try and fix it….call in the Clear Kids….
A group of 7th graders from Cecil Rhodes school have come up with a way to get rid of plastic shopping bags. They’ve come up with this amazing video.
It’s pretty cool! They did it all themselves….the writing, the acting, the ideas….you’ve got to see it for yourself….they go on to say that they even want a meeting with Mayor Katz and the Premiere to get the ball rolling on getting rid of plastic bags in our city. Like they say, if Leaf Rapids Manitoba can do it, and San Fransisco can do it….we can do it too. Great job gang!

This week seems colder than normal to me…and I don’t think I’m alone. Come on…it’s March, enough with the Windchill Warnings.
Here’s an idea, book yourself in for a pedicure. Pick out a nice summer color: a bright pink, purple, hot red, maybe an orange or coral color…anything that screams sun, sand, or flipflops will work. Live on the edge, try something different, have them paint a design on your big toes.
I had this done over a month ago…it looks like a mural but I love it!! I’m not kidding…she fit a palm tree, complete with 3 coconuts, seagulls, and water all on one toe nail. Now each time I’m feeling cold, or grouchy or just plain bitter at the world I rip off my socks and walk around the house with my flashy pink toes. Not only do I smile but it takes me some place warm for a few seconds. Try it!

Have you ever watched? If you’re a fan of the TV show…you’ll love this. Every Saturday night in March(8,15,22,29) at the Exchange Event Centre they recreate Project Runway. It’s a fabulous event that proves we have some talented designers in our city. I’ve hosted this event before and each year it gets bigger and better. This year 14 designers will showcase amazing talent each week…transforming $20 worth of purchases into an amazing look on the runway. If you like fashion & you like style you won’t want to miss the show. Doors open at 9pm. Show starts at 10pm.
I’m no Heidi Klum…but I’ll see you there:)

Knowing that you were going to die in just a few months? It’s a powerful question that you hopefully you’ll never have to ask. I came across this “Oprah Moment” on the internet. Have a look at how inspiring this gentleman is. What a tremendous spirit.
