The month of February is “I Love To Read” month. So each week Jay and I spent some time back at school reading to children. The teachers give us age appropriate books for the children and we take it from there. We read a couple stories and stick around after to answer questions about radio.
My favorite book this month is “Enemy Pie” by Derek Munson…Not only is the book funny and endearing…the message is perfect for children of all ages. A little boy learns a recipe for turning your best enemy into your best friend.
Once the story telling is done…the questions fly.
What’s your favorite color?
What’s your favorite book? song?
Are you married?
Are you Rich? (uhhhh hardly)
Can you make me famous? (how cute is that)
What happens if the Microphone breaks? (one classroom was really concerned about that…they must’ve asked me 4 times)
I don’t know which part I enjoyed most…the reading or the questions:)
Let’s make every month “I LOVE To Read” month.

Did you see the Oscars? I think once the ratings come in, we’ll see that most of us didn’t. Regardless, a couple of things I think the Oscars missed. First off, you know that montage of all the people that Hollywood has lost this past year? Where was Brad Renfro? He wasn’t a HUGE name, but he did star in some pretty good movies, including “The Client” and “Sleepers.” Even if you didn’t recognize his name, I’m sure you would agree he was more of a player than Margaret Gardner, the head of the international division of a P.R. firm.
Did the circumstances surrounding his death have something to do with it? Brad Renfo died of a drug overdose after battling his addiction for years.
On another note, no one, and I mean NO ONE likes being left out. I’ve been the kid who’s picked last for a team and it never feels good. So why did the Academy decide to give us a montage of past Oscar hosts, and leave out The View’s Whoopi Goldberg? (Even though she hosted the show 4 times?) Who knows, but you could tell on today’s show that it really stung. I felt for her – glad her cohosts made her feel loved.

to get SICK!! We are dropping like flies around the workplace. Thankfully the worst is over for me. Tuesday of last week my throat felt weird…kind of a raw or burning feeling. By Thursday morning I thought I was going to die(a little dramatic I know) I can honestly say, I haven’t been that sick in 8 years. I could barely get down the stairs in my condo because my knees were so sore. My whole body ached…I didn’t think it was possible but by hair & finger nails hurt…Did I mention the pool of sweat I woke up in? (gross) Needless to say I spent the entire long weekend @ home on the couch. I swear the only thing that kept me sane was watching curling on TV. Now a week later…I feel better. All I’m left with is this annoying cough.
I don’t wish this flu on anybody. Take Care of yourself and let’s hope you miss out on this one;)
Cheers to a healthy week!

pass the torch over to Beyonce just yet….WoW, can that gal still rock it! And good on her…that silver metallic outfit looked like something Posh Spice would wear during the spice girls tour. My favorite performance during the Grammy’s hands down…Tina & Beyonce’s duet of Proud Mary!
Best Dressed: Alicia Keys.
Most Touching Moment: Kanye West’s emotional tribute to his mom.
Most Awkward Moment: Kid Rock(what was that?)
Best Acceptance Speech: Vince Gill who accepted his award from Ringo Starr said “I just got an award given to me by a Beatle. Have you had that happen yet, Kanye?”
or Amy Winehouse who included her jailed husband in her acceptance speech.
Biggest Disappointment: Nominated for 4…Feist was shut-out.
A few Clear moms e-mailed me after seeing the awards show last night asking…. Do you think Miley Cyrus needs to find a new stylist? She does not look 15(too much hair and makeup) Huh…I never thought of it until now. What do you think?

It’s not that I hate junk mail, I just never open it. In fact, I don’t even bring it in the house. I’ll leave it in my mailbox until it’s overflowing and only then will I take the pages and pages of flyers, and the special offers from credit card companies that I’ve never heard of, and put them all into a recycling bin. I’ve even left it so long that my regular mail, er, I mean, bills actually get lost in the shuffle – and no, that’s not meant to be a poor excuse as to why Manitoba Hydro hasn’t received payment yet.
Want to stop the junk? (and the insanity?)

Did you see them? Some of the most memorable TV commercials of all time made their debut during a Super Bowl game. Remember the Budweiser frogs? (Bud-wei-ser) How about the Ozzy Osbourne nightmare Pepsi ads? The Clydesdale’s playing football? The showdown between Micheal Jordan and Larry Byrd for Macdonald’s? Many times, the commercials are more memorable than the game itself.
If you missed them, or like me, want to see them again, check out this website
They even break down the commercials by quarters.
I love the Bud commercial with the Rocky theme – the dalmatian and the clydesdale – so cute!
